Animals in distress, Irlam may be able to lend you a trap or help in other ways tel 0161 775 2221. You could also try Cats Protection, Trafford branch you are out of their area but worth asking, contact details on their website www.trafford.cats.org.uk
Jacqueline K. replied:
Poor cat he is clearly suffering and looks unwell. The fact that his terrible sore is not healing could indicate he has an underlying problem such as felv or fiv which cannot be cured and make him a possible health risk to other cats. Euthanasia is sometimes a blessing for such cats. I would take up AID's offer to trap him and take him to the vet, he needs to be seen sooner rather than later. Alternatively if you can trap him with Michelle's help Animal Trust in Bolton do not charge for consultations and they could help you decide what is best for him. Good luck.

I telephoned two different numbers for the CPL Trafford, but got an ansaphone message saying that they were currently full and couldn't take any more cats. I then telephoned Bolton Destitute Animal Centre who also said that they were full and couldn't take any further cats. They would also only take cats from Bolton. They did however give me the tel no of a woman from Leigh who owns a cat trap and may be willing to help, although I haven't spoken to her yet. I telephoned AID who offered to lend me a cat trap and to take the cat due to its injury. However, the cat's fate will then be left to a vet. As the cat has had this injury for over 6 months and it has shrunk (according to reports), is eating well and seems otherwise happy, I'm reluctant to act in case I'm just sending it to its death. I'll have to liaise with my friend and see how the cat is faring. I will keep you posted. Thanks again for your input.
