Mellow Mushroom and Murphy's Restaurant and Pub in Boone. Banner Elk Cafe. Nick's Restaurant and Pub, near Grandfather Mountain. Margie and I were just there for Valentine's Day weekend. There were some others that caught our eye, but that's where we went. Blowing Rock seems to have some places as well.

Caroline Cooley was just there

Dan Streetman may know better Banner Elk ... although it's been years since either of us lived there!
Dan S. replied:
It's been too long since I lived there to suggest much. I guess Banner Elk Cafe is good, especially for breakfast food (although Hob Nob in Boone is WAY better).
I need suggestions for great restaurants in Boone, NC. Taking friends from out-of-state kayaking and tubing at River Girl.

The Peddler is so very good, kid friendly (we take our girls) and has gluten free options (great steak). Coyote Kitchen is fun and EXTREMELY gf friendly.
Mollie M. replied:
Daniel Boone inn is family style cooking if that matters... Salad, Fried chicken, country ham, biscuits, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, cooked apples and a variety of dessert options

I thought River Girl was in Todd, NC? Pepper's Restaurant and Bar, Mellow Mushroom in Boone is really cool, Story Street Grille in B.R. is great (but i wld say moreso for grownups), I hear good things about Black Cat Burrito, Boone Bagelry (for lunch or bkfst), Macados (maybe too much college 'fun' going on there!). I will stay quiet about the restaurant with the famous name.. Casa Rustica on hwy 105 used to be really good Italian but I haven't eaten there in years. Wherever you go will be great! Have fun!
Gayle P. replied:
Daniel Boone Inn for sure.
Mary A. replied:
The Daniel Boone Inn is the best as far as I'm concerned. It is a treat for people who aren't used to family style meals with good fried chicken, country ham and all the trimmings.
Hello, I'm going to do 8 hours of community work for a class. Does anyone have any suggestions of places where u don't need a car? (Not Farm Cafe)

First Baptist Church has a Food Bank that operates every Monday and they do stuff on Tuesday (unloading food from truck) and Wednesday (packing up food for children in the area) too
