Hi everyone! I have a doggie with a liver problem. Which vet would you recommend in Bournemouth?
Tashie H. replied:
Hi Tracey vets 4 pets have all of this I believe,
Tracey P. replied:
Yeah, that's fair comment Anita. I work at vets in Wool, and would recommend Ben at The Pet practice in wallisdown. I used to work with him and he's great. I'm sure the other suggestions are all good also. Being in the industry I have not heard anythin g bad about any of the vets mentioned so far, bar one. But I wouldn't comment on the one I wouldn't use. Natterjacks have a good rep, along with Spring Corner. And, from what I have read Spring Corners prices are amazingly low. Good luck with your dog x
Carrie A. replied:
The Pet Practice! I work there, so if you have an questions you can ask me on here:) also we are one of the cheapest vets! & yes Ben the boss man is a fab vet. We have a practice in Bournemouth & Poole aswell. X

I would suggest you have a look at the link to my Google Map of recommended Vets to help you find a Vet. The further the distance you are from Calais you will usually pay a lesser price – and also not have to 'hang about' in Calais for 24 hours before being allowed back to the UK. Which ever Vet you do use, on the Map or not, please let me know details if you would recommend them and I'll add them to the Map to help others who may want a Vet. https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=zTPBDq9Df4L4.kSm3 eLuvVb2 g

Has anyone any tips for travelling with a nervous dog? He is a hyper active border collie and loves going on holiday but was all over the place on our first drive out...
Tony B. replied:
We have a the following, place it on a seat so he can see out the window and use the seat belt to secure the cage. As it is cloth it does not hurt the dog when lying down and can be zipped up. We also put the same mat he uses in the house so the scent is the same and used it for a few days before so he was comfortable in it. http://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/dog/dog-crates-and-carriers/dog-crates/pets-at-home-fabric-dog-kennel-black-large

The reviews for the Thundershirt are good on both Pets at Home and Amazon so it may be worth looking into - we may well do that..... The box apparently says it is a 45 day money back guarantee so that's even better BUT it should be used as part of a package of measures to assist - but if it helps i could be the best £30 - £35 you spend. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thundershirt-Anxiety-Coat-Dog-Grey/dp/B0028QK6EY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479408009&sr=8-1&keywords=thundershirt

Can I recommend this service www.dogtrac.com (no connection to me). It's a small tag with a unique QR code. If your dog gets found any smartphone can be used to scan...
Peter T. replied:
Hmmmmm, not sure about DogTrac, few too many variables. If you lose the dog from home with no collar, or the dog loses the collar on a walk - no tag to scan. If the dog has a collar on, by law it must have your contact details so you don't need DogTrac tag. If no collar, then by law the dog must be chipped with your contact details and most finders would know to take the dog to the police or vets to have the chip scanned. So only plus side seems to be the Dog Trac community within a five mile radius which for us in the middle of nowhere would be none. On the other hand Petlog seems useful - https://www.petlog.org.uk/
Allan B. replied:
Hi Dave Mozley our dogs are all rescues so are chipped and the details up to date. Wasn't proposing this as an alternative to a microchip, more as an additional measure. The plus side is that anyone with a smartphone can scan the dog Other services are clearly available

A cat has been hit on Ham Lane in longham, Wimborne. Nearer the longham end rather then canford bottom end. Can someone advise on who to call or call for me?
Cats D. replied:
Hello Sofie. If the cat is still alive but injured you will need to call the RSPCA on 0300 1234999 for advice. If the cat has been killed, are you able to take it to a vet to check for a microchip? Probably the nearest one would be St Marys Vets Ferndown 01202 876901. If you can do this, please let us know, so that we know where the cat is, incase we get any enquiries. Also give us a brief description of the cat (eg colour) Many thanks. x

Luckily I've only had one dog who suffered with travel sickness. I started just sitting in the motor with him, then a very short journey, with something exciting on arrival (walk, game etc), gradually building up the journey length.
