Franciscan refused to accept the contract amounts that Harrison was receiving thru Regence, so now they are forcing people to change providers. I will try to avoid Franciscan facilities as a matter of principle--they took over our local facilities but won't take our shipyard insurance as a preferred provider. Maybe if we boycott Franciscan, they will come to terms with Regence. How about Doctors Clinic or Sound Health in PO?

For pediatrics, we love Pediatrics NW in Gig Harbor, on Point Fosdick. Not sure for adults.

Yes, an emergency should be covered anywhere. I only just heard the term hospitalist when my husband had an accident in May. But she only cared for him until his own doctor took over, since he needed an orthopedic specialist (the most wonderful Dr. Stacee Kessinger of West Sound Ortho).

If you have Regence you can go to Franciscan physicians, clinics. and hospitals. Although they joined in a partnership with Harrison, they still accept Regence. if you have a question about whether a particular provider accepts Regence as a proferred provider...check with them and then double check with Regence. Also my physician Dr. Erin Dawson is here at Dr/s Clinic of Port Orchard...she refers to Franciscan and is also accepting Regence. All of my physicians in the Franciscan Network...( 5 ) in all are all preferred providers. St. Anthony's is also a very good hospital...and is the same mileage to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton...but is probably quicker...because you don't have to go through Gorst !

It was my understanding that Franciscan will still be perferd providers for Regency along with Harrison Hospital. Only Harrison Partners will not be a preferd provider.

We love the Doctors Clinic, both Port Orchard and Silverdale locations. they still take Regence. Harrison ERs are covered, urgent care is not.

Franciscan clinics are the best. We recently switched to them from the Doctor's Clinic and feel that we should have made the move a long time ago.

The Doctor's Clinic pediatrics is still covered(the one inside Harrison). They have regular docs too.

Doesn't really mean you have to switch Dr's. If you have an emergency you can still go to Harrison and they will pay at the preferred rate. If you are going in because the Dr is too busy then the non-preferred rate kicks in. Dr don't follow their patients to hospital anymore. You will see a hospitalist and then be released back to your Dr. If you go to Harrison Urgent care as non emergency you pay more out of pocket. This is my understanding of the BCBS mess.

I am not fond of Harrison anyway. Seems like their care has changed dramatically with the advent of Obama care. Obamacare Obamacare, however lean your changes. Same policy different interpretation.

My kids go to Kitsap Childrens clinic in Port Orchard and I go to Sound Health Care for my GP. We have blue cross also.

Dr. Alagba here in silverdale is really great. There's 2 of them. The dad and his daughter are both pediatricians. I went to them since I moved to Washington until I was 18. Super caring and nice people.

Wherever you go, avoid Dr. Frandsen. Absolute disconnect with reality and his patients.

None in Bremerton that I know of, however Dr. Chow in Silverdale is wonderful!

I know it's quite a drive but we go to Dr. Monk on Bainbridge Island. He is excellent with our newborn and super easy to talk to if you have any questions or concerns. & it's a beautiful drive.

Dr. Dan Diamond is the best, but I'm not sure he's still in practice. Our kids have been grown for a while and he does a lot of benevolent doctoring in Haiti. But worth a look.

We see dr. Melody Bronold in Silverdale and she's fantastic. Well be taking our second child to her when they are born after May.

We see Dr. Caulkins at Olympic Family Practice in Bremerton, near the hospital. He's a family practitioner, but he has been just wonderful with our daughter, and I like that he can see me and my husband too, so when problems come up we can be treated as a family.

Both my kids see Dr. Hoisington in Silverdale & we love him. He's with the Doctor's Clinic at Harrison Silverdale. Dr. Chow is in the same office & she's great too.

I can't recommend Kitsap Clinic of Natural Medicine enough. I'd seen over 5 different clinics/dr.s here before I lucked into finding them. Great staff, close location, they spend time talking and listening to you instead of rushing you out the door.

I'm sorry more have not come forward with recommendations. They must be seeing veterinarians. Kidding. For several years now my wife and I have seen Robert Caulkins, family practice. His office is nearby over near the old Harrison Hospital. The staff are very thorough and attentive. I find Dr Caulkins listens carefully and does not ignore the patient's opinion of their condition. The office is child friendly with an area for kids. I hope this is helpful. Finding a new doctor in a new neighborhood can be stressful. Good luck.
