Talk to your doctor. They can give you recommendations to those who specialize with your needs. They also may be able to get you in quicker with a referral and help insurance cover it if possible.

Psychologytoday.com has filters to show therapists in the region and can narrow the search for specific counseling issues. It also shows what insurances are accepted and approx. appointment prices.

Dr. Jarod Masci whose practice is Landmark Health at Franklin & Edward. Amazing doctor and a great person to have in your corner.

I strongly recommend a psychodynamic or similar therapist - as far as insurance, lots of therapists will require you to submit the claim yourself so check with your insurance to see if they offer whole or partial coverage for the therapist you want to work with.
Also some general advice: don't be afraid to find a new therapist if you don't feel like they're a good fit - sometimes finding a therapist can be like dating. After all it is a relationship and you need someone who matches you in the right way and works with you on what you are looking for in the way you are looking for.
Know what you are looking for and ask about their style of therapy and their approach and what the experience will be like for you. Definitely browse through psychology today's list of local therapists. My experience is that Clinical Psychologists with Ph.Ds are the best but there are some great licensed mental health counselors out there too. Don't be afraid to ask for a brief consultation to see if you and them will fit together.

I have had an amazing experience with Cheryl Eberl at Wellness Connection - she has helped me tremendously. I also go to Williamsville Wellness to see one of their psychiatric NPs, but I believe they have therapists there as well.

I have taken my dog to several group classes at [Dog Days of Buffalo](http://www.dogdaysofbuffalo.com), which were great. They also have an option for one-on-one training in your home, which also helped me with an issue I was having with my dog & cat getting along.

We at Natural Freedom have a partnership with Attachment and Bonding Center of Ohio. They have 2 offices, 1 in Cleveland Ohio and 1 in Columbus Ohio. They specialize in adoption and have served many clients from all over the US and have years of experience with international adoptions. Dr. Greg Keck has written multiple books on the subject as well. They provide various treatment options for individuals outside of our geographic area. When they feel it is appropriate they also provide the option for the equine piece of the treatment at the NF facility. Please feel free to PM for therapist's phone # and/or check out either of our websites. Hope this is helpful.

I used to go to WNY Psychotherapy Services, they have an office in Amherst, offer online services, and have plenty of great therapists and psychotherapists to work with who offer many different types of treatments and care. They also take BCBS. I’d also check out the “Find a Therapist” section on Psychology Today, it’s easy to sort by what issues you want help with, insurance, location, etc. and you can read a short description of each therapist on there.

If you're on BCBS you can see if there are any virtual options available. I'm on BCBS of WNY and virtual therapy through doctorsondemand.com is free. I found a fantastic therapist through it and haven't paid a dime.
