We desperately need volunteers! I am trying to get a couple of spay/neuter clinics going, but it is quickly unraveling. Operation Pets is doing all they can to help me,...

Last year we set up 2 neuter clinics that were very sucessful. I am trying to do it again a few times this summer, but don't have a proper vehicle to do it. The Gowanda Fire Dept is lending us the pavillion to get people registered in the morning, Operation Pets will be doing the spaying & neutering. Operation Pets said Wensday are looking good, but it is possible they could do a different day of the week. Op Pets is open M-Thursday.
Spay G. replied:
Because of the holiday I will be getting everything set up next week. I have to take a cat to Op Pets on tuesday anyway.

The transports are my biggest issue currently, my vehicle is on it's last leg, and it's not big enough to transport more than 2-3 cats. I have Op Pets working with me, and the Gowanda Fire Dept. is lending me a place to check in the cats for the clinic. Steve Baldo's is trying to help get me a transport vehicle for a day, the biggest issue is they don't get many vans in stock.
Spay G. replied:
Linda Robinson & Edie Offhaus, 7 Liz Suggs have been so helpful in this whole process.

I can help transport during the week to Operation Pets, not the weekend feral Cat Focus clinics.
So I have a bit of insomnia and in thinking about things I have a question for this group. My dog was injured last night at my home in Buffalo so I was able to take him...

Not Steuben Vet Clinic- both my mom and I had to call in emergency situations after hours (my mom had to call yesterday) and no one answered the emergency number or returned the message. Cornell (in Ithaca) is your best bet, they are stellar at what they do and I can't say enough good things about them!

Steuben Vet Clinic is a fantastic outfit, but not set up for emergency care perse (outside of having been seen already in office), so one cannot fault Dr. Guy Hammond and staff for how his/their operation is run. He's 24 hours alright, but for his numerous clients wherever a large animal may be, outside of seeing his clients during regular office hours. I have been a client of EastView with two of my dogs going back many years. I have relatives who have seen Dr. Farmer in Bath. We all have our preferences to meet our pet(s)' needs. I was in Steuben Vet when a dog was brought in having been hit. ❤️ Outside of beyond exceptional care I sought and received from Dr. Guy Hammond and staff, they sent us to Ithaca. The Drs at Ithaca had nothing but superlatives for the work and excellent care given our dog both in surgery and post surgery with Dr. Hammond.
Chris M. replied:
Bath Vet Hospital and Dr. Susan Farmer are terrific (she's a "laker," as someone else noted up-thread).
Dawn M. replied:
I have always had a quick response with Steuben Vet Clinic and they even sat with my dog all night

I'm surprised. In March our English lab got progressively sick over the weekend and my Mom called Steuben Vet Clinic and blatantly stated "I think my dog is dying". Doc Hammond said to bring him in and he would check on him throughout the day while he was in between farm appts. Our dog was left in the kennel alone without even a water dish or a bathroom break for 7 hours, let alone the IV hydration he really needed. We found out from the lab results that our dog was severely anemic and needed a blood transfusion but that couldn't be done until Hammond got back that evening. We then made the decision on our own to take our dog to Cornell...no one at Hammond's office even suggested it. Come to find out, our dog had Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia and had to have 3 transfusions over the course of the next 5 days. He passed away less than a week after that initial day at Steuben Vet Clinic.

Eastview Vet clinic has emergency services. There number is 315-536-9871 if you ever need it.
Dawn M. replied:
Steuben Vet on 54 in Bath. Or Bath Vet Hospital. Dr Farmer is a "laker"
Jeanne L. replied:
We have used Eastview Veterinary Clinic in an emergency situation with our "laker" cat! They are located on 14A about 3 miles North of Penn Yan. They are fantastic! Stayed opened late for us! Took care of a problem our own vet at home missed. Could not be more impressed or recommend them more highly.
Darlene B. replied:
Yes, the young Dr Pinkey at Eastview performed emergency surgery on my elderly golden after she was severely mauled by another dog. There's no question that she saved Sadie's life. Dr Pinkey was the epitome if a "fast responder." And so kind to deal with! I can't recommend her and Eastview enough.
Are there any vet clinics that have lower rates? I am asking for myself. I get a monthly income due to an illness and I have not been able to afford to bring my cats to...
Buffalo S. replied:
Like Diane said Petco and Petsmart have monthly vet clinics that are low cost and there is also West Side Pet Clinic on 1245 Niagara St. Buffalo, NY 14213 Phone: 716-882-1245. Good luck.
