Need recommendations for a chiropractor and/or physical therapy location. How's Boston Backworks? Does anyone have a favorite who they would actually go out of their way...

I go to newton center chiropractic. First time I went there with lower back pains, they ask about my history of pains and activities, took xrays and did some adjustments. They did tell me what was wrong with my back, in my case, the muscles were so tight that it locked the bottom spine into a twisted position. They also do this technique called ACT which is some sort of dynamic stretching. Basically you stretch while the chiro pushes the muscle in the other direction to maximize the stretch. I also asked ways to prevent my back pains and they gave me specific stretches to perform which were very helpful. Whenever I get back pains again due to sitting 8 hours at work and slacking off on the stretching, I go in for an adjustment and I walk out like a rockstar. Its closed today because of columbus day and I'm dying in pain.
I don't know if this will be a match for your needs - but i had to undergo a few months of PT and did so with Spaulding - http://www.spauldingrehab.org It was hard work, and I had to coax myself to go a few times... however they helped me tremendously and I really felt that my therapist had *MY* best interests in mind. We set a few goals for the PT and when those goals were met, we were done. The entire experience never felt like any sort of business transaction (ie- they wanted me better, and were not interested in keeping me coming back perpetually). I hope this helps!

I have gone to many chiropractors, but was always left feeling something was missing. I finally found a GREAT one, but he's all the way out in Framingham. Still... I think it's worth the trip out there.. That's how good he is. http://www.thomasgardnerchiro.com/

I have been going to Back Works and they are ok, I have had better when I was living in FL but they did not hurt me and help relieve the pain. i recently hurt my back and all of the muscle tightened up, over a course of a couple of weeks Backworks got me feeling great.

Not sure about Boston Backworks, but I've been to the Boston Bodyworker and have had a great experience there. My situation doesn't seem to have been quite as intense as yours, though they're very professional there and I think they'd be quite receptive to working with you in the ways you'd prefer.

Pretty decent... FYI their fried pickles are spears, not chips. Different, but still good.
Can anyone recommend a *really* good chiropractor in Cambridge/Somerville? There's one near my old house that was pretty OK but didn't have the big massage table rolly...

I highly recommend Tom Hagan at Khalsa Chiropractic on Mass Ave in Cambridge. I've been going there fora bout three years. He is excellent and has skills beyond most chiropractors in doing deep tissue work. He is the Red Sox official chiropractor if that tells you anything!
Katie S. replied:
Dr. Robert Kum at Chirocare in Arlington Center is my chiropractor too! His associate, Keith Puri is particularly fabulous on leg issues...I've seen him and now Juhan is as well. I don't know a monster truck driver, but there have been times I've told Juhan he drives like Mario Andretti...if that helps!

Hi there, It would be great to get a recommendation for a chiropractor (Gonstead / SOT / Activator / Thompson) in Cambridge, MA or Boston. Thanks!

Spaulding Rehab has a running clinic. I’m sure there’s a physical therapist there who could help you or at least point you in the right direction.

You're looking for an OMT. They can analyze gait and posture, help correct it, and do deep tissue work, as well as create PT routines. Theyre also MDs. Fenway Health has a few.

Larry, I would suggest you check with Joyce Pike. She's practically royalty herself (in my mind at least ;-), so likely to know who the world's premier Chiropractor would talk to in making that a reality.
