South trail is great we use them for everything, there is also a Fort Myers mobile vet who does it. http://floridavetonwheels.com/
Shannon H. replied:
So sorry for your families loss. If you are going to bury her at home please be careful. Make sure your baby is deep enough so wildlife doesn't dig her up. The euthasol is toxic and many large birds, like bald eagles, are being poisoned by euthanized pet remains. The Mobil vets in the area are great. Or if it becomes an emergency situation SVS is open 24 hours a day.

I too went through this. The vets that I looked up were as low as $300. I decided to take mine to Lighthouse Clinic.....yet ere awesome and it was only $95. I then buried my beloved Snickers on my property.
Dr. Scott once gave me heart worm meds for $1 because it was all I had left once I paid for vaccines and flea meds. He's a great guy. I use the vet On Santa Barbara because she's a Lab Lover and I have a big lab. She was pricey my last visit, but it was needed so no complaints. http://santabarbaraanimalhospital.com/website2_003.htm

Took my cat to PI Vet once when he had an open gash on his leg from a cat fight. Mind you I had been going there for a few years, but just for shots etc. Well wound had open flap of skin, with hair/blood etc dirtying it up. The female doctor that owns it came in and proceeded to take a metal comb and without care, began to comb the hair away from the open wound!! No numbing in the wound, nothing. Here I am scruffing my cat while he looks into my eyes screaming! because of the pain he was in. I felt absolutely horrible!!! I have never taken my animals back since then. Also, in the past once, the front desk lady with the short hair that has been there forever, took a tic off of my cat free of charge, well doctor came out and gave her sh!t saying that she had to do it etc. You know that would have been a charge.

I called Pine Island vet once, and the girl I talked to, very quietly told me that I should consider taking my pet to someone else.

Steve W. replied:
I don't know her, and did not care for Dr. Miller at all. I do not like how they always slam the Housecall Vet on their FB page for his vacc clinics at the feed store. Dr. Scott Wouk is certainly not fly by night. We used him for several years and loved him. If you have to slam the competition to get business, something is wrong. Stand on your own merits is my motto.

Animal general next to Costco in Ft Myers. Been using Dr Gonzalez for 12 years.
Joanne H. replied:
I had to have Dr. Scott come to the house to put my old girl down. He was all you could ask for in that situation. No rush, lots of compassion, comfort. she was 23 and it was time. I don't like one professional trashing another one. Leave that to the dissatisfied clients.
Sarah H. replied:
Vet here seems more interested in $ then your pet. I want a vet that gives me warm fuzzies for my fuzzies. AND I HATE THE BAD TALKING THE COMPETITION...so un professional! She is cold and her hubby (who is NOT a vet) is always sticking his nose into the files to see what she's charging.Tthe lady that works the front counter doesn't even smile. CUSTOMER SERVICE is all about the smiles and making me happy I chose your services...they don't have that part of running a business down yet.
Steve W. replied:
Agreed. Dr Scott was a most compassionate vet with our Gus for the last several years, he got to the bottom of a terrible allergy problem that we had paid another clinic in town a small fortune and they still could not sure it. He came to the house the very last time to put him down. I could not have asked for more. My only problem was his timing a couple times. Being a house call vet, he got waylaid sometimes and got here late. My pets just loved him though. He got right down on the floor with them to start off the visit and definitely took his time. He does a very good job when he has clinics at the fee store too. I took the dog there once or twice as well. SRO for the most part. That should tell us something about the man and his capabilities.

oh.. one other who I adore..but they do have limited hours and are quite far... Affordable Animal Care in Lehigh.. VERY wonderful people... interesting story too.. They vollunteer!!!! so they are NOT in it for the money!! also.. it gets crazier.. The owner apparently is a cosmetition who opened the place to help animals and subsidizes it out of her own money!!! or at least that's how it all started!! amazing lovely people and CRZY low prices... but an hour from here..

I have had VERY good experience with Vizcay DelPrado on Delprado near Veterans.. My cat just broke his leg.. The vet could have totally soaked me for a couple thousand if he told me that plates/ pins/ bloodwork etc were necessary..but intstead.. He took one xray..put a cast on and re xray'd it to make sure the cast was done properly...and showed me the after pics.. and he gave me one anti inflammatory and one pain med.. all for under 300. Also.. went back for a re chck.. no charge....and if that isn't enough I am VERY impressed that BOTH meds were already compounded into a tasty taste.. Good luck trying to pill cats.. the only one who gets the meds is usually ME.. all over me.. but this vet provided pre compounded drugs that taste good so no stress on anyone..

I love Viscaya Prado!!! Great vets and techs, never too busy, open on weekends, they have two locations, a LARGE waiting room (unlike Chiquita!) and they are so well priced it's ridiculous. Highly highly recommend them. Chiquita takes a lot of walk-ins, so even with an appt you could be stuck waiting forever.
I need a vet in cape coral, any suggestions on who to go to and who not to go to. Thanks
Janelle W. replied:
Visacya Prado in my opinion is the best in Lee County. Very compassionate, personable, great with all my animals & good prices. I've recommended them to several friends/family members and not one of them had a problem and raved about how caring the vets are.

Who do you all go to at viscaya prado? I saw Dr Melloh and he was pretty rude to me, not impressed. But I live 2 min from them and would like to give them another try, but prob not him
Cindy H. replied:
Anywhere but Viscaya! I was told they were great too, and to my dismay, they were anything but great. I had a female vet and this was our Newfoundland's first time there after moving here from Michigan. She was not friendly, all business, and when she finally got down to his level and he gave her a big wet kiss she actually said, "ewww". Really!? I had to go back the following Monday to pick up his Lee county tag, and the receptionist was very rude. I go to Pine Island Vet, they are great with the pets and much cheaper than any other vets in the Cape, and cleaner. Viscaya was very dirty.
Janelle W. replied:
Suzi Perry I've seen Dr.Mckelvie, Dr.Kroll, Dr.Nelson, and Dr.Melloh. mainly Dr Melloh and he's always been very happy and polite. Maybe he was having an "off" day that day.

Don't go to Dr. McKelvie at Viscaya-Prado. He was responsible for our 2 year old doberman dying. I know it's not on the Cape but Bayshore Animal Hospital in NFM has an awesome dr. Dr. Lisa Newman. She truly cares about our furbabies.
Terin B. replied:
Every time I went to kindness (four times, all BAD experiences) they tried to push expensive surgeries, but my dog did fine without the surgeries and they did not even try to treat her stage 3 heart murmur. My groomer told me she had similar issues with Kindness. I was so upset with them I took my dog to Cape Coral Pet Vet, they got her in the same day, accurately diagnosed her without pushing for expensive testing. Told me with her conditions (collapsing trachea and heart murmur) they wouldn't consider her to be a candidate for ANY kind of surgery. They were very nice, caring, and treated us both with respect and understanding.
