Any recommendations for renter's insurance providers that will offer coverage in our neighborhood?

Try Allison Arrington at Allstate, she's great. Even if their office doesn't offer it she can likely direct you to the best place to go. And she's my friend:) (843) 573-4777

I am the owner of Crescent Insurance Agency and live in the neighborhood - am happy to talk with anyone in the neighborhood. Office phone is 410-5616.

We have been have with Atlantic Shield (843) 856-2909 personally and commercially - I have also recommended them to many clients - that said I have heard good things about Pinckney Carter as well. On the other hand Charles Cole will certainly be a good choice as he will know who will provide policies in the n/hood currently.

Okay folks, I'm looking for suggestions on homeowners insurance. I currently work with CT Lowndes and have a policy through Capitol Preferred. When we purchased last...
Charles C. replied:
Ellen McCarthy I own Crescent Insurance Agency as Georgia Crawford Nettles said. Among the carriers I represent are both Capitol Preferred and Occidental. There are a lot of different factors that go into which carrier is best for individual houses, and I can help explain these to you and anyone else. Two factors that contribute here are proximity to the water and the year of updates to a house's roof, wiring, plumbing, and HVAC. Capitol Preferred actually would not write a new policy for anywhere in Wagener Terrace because they have new guidelines making houses within 2 miles of water ineligible, and they use the Ravenel Bridge as that point for us.
Charles C. replied:
Ellen McCarthy you mentioned some policy change, and that also could be a big part of it. I would definitely ask what the policy change was. Did you have an alarm credit that was taken off, was any coverage changed or deductible changed? Feel free to email me at charles@crescentagency.com if you would like some help figuring it out.

Troy Herndon, State Farm is the best. Good Christian guy, family friend. He goes to the church I grew up in here and when I was in middle school, he was my Sunday School teacher. My sister works for him too. A few years ago I switched from another State Farm agent to him and there's an amazing difference. I went from one, that wasn't bad, but you never heard from, to one that took a personal interest in any problem I had, as he does with all his customers. He went above and beyond when someone hit my car last year and I was out of town. Called me after hours at night on a Sunday night and also the next morning before he was even in the office. His mission was to get me back to Charleston, even if my car was undriveable. Got me rental info if I needed it, and mechanic info to have my car checked out to see if it was safe to drive for the 230 miles back from Jacksonville. Their adjuster helped me fight the insurance company of the guy who hit me, who didn't want to pay the worth of the car/repairs. They did things they didn't need to, because the other insurance company was a pain to work with, and got things rolling quickly from the minute the accident happened.
