Hi Amy, Since it seems you don't have a registered "theme camp" you are probably going to have a bit of trouble finding what you want. There isn't a whole lot of open camping (you can see here: http://bit.ly/Mysteria2014 ) Easily 80% of the people who ...See More

Just an FYI, but camp Hum N Hug does all that. If you can't find a spot to set up your stuff; feel free to come by, and jam out with us.

We try to keep things tasteful (you can hear us here - http://www.senseandcolor.com/weddings/) so with luck we'll find a spot where people can find us and the neighbors won't mind my singing late night. Thanks again! By the way, does anyone have a link...See More

Amy, welcome to Charlotte! I think you will enjoy it here, we definitely have a thriving burner/music/art community! Every Thursday is The Happening at Petra's on Commonwealth- it's a burner run free event with live art, drum circle, hooping, dj's, and fun! The happening also has a monthly zodiac party which is a fundraiser to keep the happening free. I hope to meet you on the mountain!

Any great summer camps suggestions for the area? We're new and I'm looking for something for my 7 year old daughter. Thanks!

Charlotte Parent magazine has great ideas, you can get it at Harris Teeter.

It might be too late for the summer, but if she is interested in horse back riding, Jump for Joy Equestrian has a fun program and is about a 10-12 minute drive from Harrisburg. Check out their facebook page. Lori Walker runs a nice program including day camps and riding lessons for kids of all types and ages.

Harrisburg YMCA has a bunch of stuff, and check out the Pottery Cottage too. They have some camps smile emoticon
Lennie L. replied:
The Pottery Cottage is great, but if you are looking for something a little more generic (and a chance for her to meet other kids) Discovery Day Camp is held at Frank Liske Park every week and I *think* there are still spots available. It shows that th ere is a waitlist for the next 3 weeks and spots still open for the last week 8/11-8/15, but you can contact the director to ask specifics. http://www.cabarruscounty.us/.../Discovery-Day-Camp.aspx

Does anyone know of any summer camps or activites in Mt Holly for this summer ?
Kayla H. replied:
There were signs about cheer and football stuff in Mt Holly for summer. The signs are at intersection across from Food Lion and Rite Aid. I am not sure of details yet but A Place to Land off of belmont Mt Holly Rd is supposed to have some summer stuff if your kids are into art at all.
