Think you're after income protection - there's types that don't depend on income too which is an option self employed people often go for at the company I do VA work for. Essentially if you become ill you'll still get an income. I do the medical underwriting (asking insurance companies if they're OK with your medical history) but am not an advisor. The company I work with is deathanddisease.com (cheerful title I know!) - if you want to contact them and speak to Rob or Beki, they'll be able to help :)
