Recommendations for a vacuum cleaner I'm look for recommendations for a vacuum cleaner.
The total area to vacuum is fairly small. I have a small bedroom + landing +...
cunt-hooks replied:
Hi, I'm a property manager. I know a lot about this stuff. There are really only two brands of vac worth considering. First is the good old Henry, not right for your situation. The best of the best though, is Miele. They'll have something for you, though I'd say DO NOT go bagless! It's a gimmick for lazy people, get a small vac with a bag a change it regularly! Way better
experience_sandbox replied:
Whatever the best recommendation is from the other people replying, suggest it to someone richer than you. Then take their old one off their hands.
The_2nd_Coming replied:
Why don't you want a cordless one? They are so convenient, powerful enough and last long enough these days.
Anonymous replied:
Miele. I thought they were overpriced, but the wife insisted we got one because her mom bought one. It's been fantastic. Stay away from Dyson, they're crap for reliability and build quality.
Shind0gs replied:
I don’t know your budget but I bought [this](http://www.argos.co.uk/product/7244797) dirt cheap one from Argos on a whim as our last one totally packed in and you know what, it’s bloody brilliant. So powerful for the price, it’s great. Only had it a few weeks so time will tell about it’s staying power but can’t complain for the price, better than the Henry we had been borrowing from my boyfriends Work!
OP, I'm totally with you on the bagless thing, but everything you will read by people who know what they're talking about says do not get a bagless vacuum. They are inferior, for more money. I would much prefer a bagless one because emptying it out each time after hoovering gives me an idea of how much I actually needed to hoover and whether I should do it more often. Plus it's satisfying, but bagged vacuum cleaners are superior. Buy a Miele C3 and you're done.
EdwardTennant replied:
We use a Vax air mach and it's really.good, especially for dog fur
coliander replied:
Bagless are shite. Seriously.
flapjackboy replied:
It's not bagless, but I'd highly recommend a [Kirby.](https://www.kirby.com/gb/) They're nigh on indestructible and incredibly versatile. EDIT: So, did the person who downvoted me actually check the link out? There are Kirby vacuum cleaners well over 30 years old that are still running as well as they were out of the box. These are vacuum cleaners you can pass on to your grandkids. Try doing that with a Dyson.
devtastic replied:
FWIW, I don't have stairs but I just use a Roomba iRobot for the floor and a handheld Dyson (DC34) for everything else (and dusters). I do also have a Dyson DC24 (small ball upright) in the cupboard which is great (apart from short cord) but i think I've used it once or maybe twice in 4 years. I'm quite content with running the Roomba every day or 2 and then whizzing over shelves, skirting, sofa, walls and places it misses with the hand held. I also use the handheld to clean as I go when cooking and such like. I have made my flat Roomba friendly so I can run it reasonably unattended such as when I'm in the shower.
brks321 replied:
Quite a good rep for Shark. Better than Dyson. Mum has a pet one, amazing suction, weird at first because the weight is all towards the handle. Portable and bagless, with a long cord.
claireauriga replied:
Anything Miele is worth its weight in gold. Personally I love my bagged Miele because it's powerful, it hasn't lost any suction after years and years, and the bags mean it is very quick and clean to empty.
RedBanana99 replied:
No one has mentioned G-Tech? Bought one 6 months ago and it's revolutionised cleaning the stairs carpet. The deal we bought was the upright rechargeable vacuum and the hand held rechargeable vacuum. Both bagless. I have 2 cats and both devices work terrific with pet hairs on upholstery and carpets. Also good on lino/tiles floors
edent replied:
For wooden flooring, a Roomba or similar. Hit the button on it when you leave for the day, come back to a swept floor. Lots of people hate Dyson, but ours has lasted over 10 years with no faults. DC08.
Gavin_S replied:
Know the facts. EU changed consumer power rating for hoovers so now all the ones you in normal stores are low powered made stronger by using narrower piping to keep same force. most use around 30 mm tubing when old stuff is near 50 mm with same force. Best best is try an industrial one. Cost more but will last so much longer and actually pick stuff up.
Chickeneggsandlegs replied:
Thanks for asking this question, I’ve literally been looking for a new vacuum myself. I was tempted by the cordless ones but from all the advice on here I’m going to get at Miele C3 because at the end of the day I want a vacuum to actually do it’s job.

Id recommend dyson but not a new one. Check our their ebay outlet instead
allthekos replied:
Lol I bought a £50 one from Tesco 3 years ago. It sucks very well, it's easy to clean and has been the only hoover to last so long without losing power...

Dyson v8 total clean. We had a really heavy upright Dyson before and it wasn't very good, but this is amazing. A few friends have tried it and they all want one. Your fears around battery life are unfounded with modern ones. I used to think mains or battery powered wasn't that bigger deal but when you do the whole house and stairs in no time without stopping other than to change heads you realise how awesome it is.
magsan replied:
We had a dyson but it’s pricey and not great build quality any more. We now have a shark, which is great bar a short cord
boombapsound replied:
Why mains powered ? We've had a Henry for years but our new shark cordless blows it out the water with the powered brush roller, we were recommended it by someone who cleans for a living who said it beats the more expensive Dyson. The one we've got is http://www.argos.co.uk/product/7307627 With a small area you're bound to be done well before the battery runs out
whatatwit replied:
I'd second the Meile even though there is a bag. We switched from a Meile to a Dyson when we left the UK and it is cumbersome and it wastes energy, which is one of the reasons that Mr. Dyson objects to the energy saving rules of the EU and is a Brexiteer. The constant spinning of dirt uses extra power and makes wasteful heat and noise.
captainchrist1986 replied:
Loads of people will say I'm wrong but the new dysons are awesome. Wireless and compact and hardly need charging (I think it snaps onto a wall charger when not in use). If you're not hoovering anything heavy duty they're great. A relative has 3 kids and a dog and has one and it's never failed.
blackmist replied:
However, I've got an upright Dyson and it's clunky as shit. Honestly don't recommend it with so little carpet. Miele C3 is supposed to be good.

Medibang Paint is a great app for sketching out things. I personally use it more than ProCreate since I don't digitally paint a lot. And it's free!

I love Procreate! But as a Vector Artist, I am also dabbled into Graphic as well which is an app vector program that talks back to Adobe Illustrator which is fantastic. You can sketch in Apple's native Notes (which is actually not too shabby for what it is), or use Procreate to doodle. https://graphic.com/ipad-pro/
