Holly Edwards Grimsley at Grimsley Jewelers is the absolute best. Coming from a former Ellis client. Holly is wonderful, I believe in keeping it local.

I would recommend Perry's Gold Mine in the Park (former Charlotte Merchandise Mart). I called two jewelry stores in this area to see about getting a crystal on a watch replaced and one in the university area wanted $50 to $60 & 4-6 weeks and when I called Ellis they quoted $35 to $50 & 5-7 days depending on the glass and watch type. I have never done business with Ellis so I can't speak about their prices or reputation but I know they are longtime jeweler..... My concern with any jewelry dealer is a couple years ago on ABC's show 20/20 they did a report where people took diamond jewelry someplace to be repaired or reset and the jeweler replaced their stone with a fake one or an inferior stone and kept the diamond from their jewelry and they did not find out until later for some other reason like getting an appraisal or something. I would just be careful with any Jeweler I used to make sure that they are reputable and I honestly don't know how you find that out other than word of mouth and trusting other people's opinion

Ellis Jewelers on Union Street in Concord near Mullis Music. I took the watch my parents gave me when I graduated from high school (considered vintage now - LOL) and they put on a new watch band that looks like it was from that era. Very nice people -- family-owned and operated for decades. I do not trust the mall chains.
