So I looked into Brookdale Animal Hospital $53 for a basic exam! Wow! Is that the going rate? I've had dogs for years and I've never been quoted an exam rate past $35. Thoughts?

Why do people give recommendations for other areas in this forum. Why don't you recommend the local businesses and keep our business local. We have great people that are here in Harrisburg and we need to support them the best we can. Again Brookdale is a local Harrisburg vet with a great doctor n Dr. Pressley. We have gone there since the opened and always happy with ur great LOCAL vet.

We have been going to Miller Animal Hospital for 10+ years with our dogs. Dr Miller is awesome. He is honest, fair and loves all of his patients.

Regular vets are great for full checkups, but when you only need annual vaccinations or medications, Carolina value vet is definitely the way to go! They come once every month or so to Harrisburg

They're very inexpensive, always make sure my pups are taken care of and they're just so awesome all around with my dogs and the only ones I trust to take care of my animals. I just updated my dogs shots for $15 distemper/parvo and $15 3 yr rabies.

We had a similar situation with our huge old dog who was dying but it was during the daytime. He got deathly ill in the early morning & we didn't know it until we woke. He weighed 120 lbs. I finally found a vet who would come but not until lunchtime. Sadly he suffered & died before they could euthanize him...I do know there is a mobile vet that will euthanize pets at home. My son & his wife used them but I can't recall the name. She found them online & called. It was really expensive, around $400 I think. So sorry your pup is so sick. Try the mobile euthanasia service....I found these online. Haven't used, just trying to help. Sarah Conrad you may want to try Dr. Crutchfield. We used to take our kitties to Dr. Pressley at Brookdale but it takes a lot of work to capture our kitties. A friend recommended Dr. Crutchfield and she came to our house and it only cost $12 more than taking them to Brookdale. Here is their information: www.crutchfieldvet.com and phone is 704-620-0078. She came to us in Concord so she should cover Harrisburg too.

There is a 24 hour vet in Huntersville. Carolina Veterinary Specialists they have been great to work with our dog who has IBD.

I took my puppy to South Ridge Veterinary in Kannapolis for the first time last Saturday. Very clean, friendly staff, could tell they genuinely cared about my puppy. They accept Care Credit.

If you just need shots and heartworm medicine the I would go to the vet clinics with Carolina Value Vet. You only pay for the vaccines and medicine. You can pay a small fee for a dr visit but nothing like you would at a vet's office. They have various locations around here. They're all on their website. I highly recommend them.

Oh I know of a great vet and he does not charge crazy prices either. He is excellent. When my mother's dog was sick he started doing testing on him, and contacted 3 other vets to help. West Stanly Animal Clinic in Locust Town Center. Very reasonable fees and good vets. ...We had been going to the same Concord vet for nearly 50 yrs & they just kept getting more expensive. Some of their vets left & went to W. Stanly. We have been very happy there. It's really not very far to drive either. No traffic that way compared to Univ. area or Concord so time-wise about the same travel time.
