If you are seeking the emotional support that continuity of care provides, rather than the medical assistance, a Doula is a great option to look at. There is me, at http://www.facebook.com/bohemebirthgoldcoast or a number of other amazing Doulas I can recommend ✌

The Gold Coast birthing centre, they are fantastic and attached to the Gold Coast Hospital. You have the same midwife throughout your pregnancy and doing home visits after the birth.

Hi! Seeking some experiences/opinions from anyone who has birthed in the new Gold Coast Private Maternity Ward. What were the midwives like?...
Stephanie Z. replied:
Hi, I am due to give birth at GCPH in a few weeks. My OB is DR Mills from Grace Private which is also located in the hospital. Due to some complications I spent a week in the maternity ward a fortnight ago. The midwives are all very compassionate, knowledgeable and supportive. They made a huge difference to my time there and answered any questions I had. Some are specialised lactation consultants who are there to guide you with breastfeeding after having the baby. You are also able to ring and talk to a midwife 24/7 about any concerns or for advice throughout the pregnancy. The facilities are relaxing and clean. All my visitors commented on what a lovely hospital/ward it was. I had a double bed so my husband was able to stay and got all food provided for no extra. The food is great. You get your 3 meals a day (didn't taste like hospital food), they do a high tea for morning tea and lunch everyday in the lounge area of the maternity ward as well as have a coffee machine and fridge filled with snacks and food you can access 24/7. At this stage I have nothing negative to say and we are very happy we chose to GCPH.
