I am a physical therapist at Alliance Heath center and rehab. Dr Hollmann is the best ortho in deland. Dr Reed is ok (his knees tend to be very painful, but hips seem ok) Dr hood is hit or miss. Denoff is terrible - all of the failed local surgeries I've seen were his (I wouldn't let him operate on me for anything). Good luck! Make sure she has a good physical therapist; it's a very important part!

I had a hip replacement with an excellent doctor but he's in DB and my surgery was at Halifax. Get some recommendations and then look up healthgrades.com, ratemds.com, or vitals.com to see what others say. If she can have the "anterior approach" for the hip replacement, go for it. Recovery is easier and quicker. I've had one of each :(

Dr. Hood just did my dad's hip surgery, was quick and efficient. I know several other people who have had surgery from him and they are all satisfied

Dr Heather Metchik at Coastal Woman's Health in NSB she is in her early 40 s very up to date on new procedures it is just her at her office so you will never see a nurse practitioner for a Dr visit or see her partners because she has none she just did my hysterectomy she's an amazing Dr and surgeon and she has an amazing crew of nurses etc at her office my surgery was originally scheduled for the 12 th but thanks to Irma I had to reschedule knowing how hard it was for me to schedule time off due to client load she had me rescheduled for the 19 th one week later to accomodate my schedule

Dr Stephen Cortez at Twin Lakes is caring and a fantastic surgeon. Used DaVinci to find remnants from botched hysterectomy by other surgeons. Which DrJulie Schneider, Dr Paula Foust, Dr Christopher Stanley ALL missed!

Dr. Black did mine! He was awesome as I had a necrotic gallbladder with complications, he made me feel like I was his favorite patient!

All the general surgeons with volusia general surgery are great as well. Dr. Fabian, Ramshaw, White, Bianchi.

I just had my gallbladder taken out in October and used Dr Christian birkedal in Ormond.. love that man!!

All the surgeons mentioned above are good. Also Dr. Harry Black.

If the pain gets bad and you need an ER have them refer you to an oral surgeon. They can get you in quicker that way also. I have no dental insurance and after calling UF Dental in Gainesville they told me to do that and said to go on the American Dental Associations site for a list of dentists. I found a few that have a sliding scale fee.

I went through this in January. It was torture. I literally had to go all the way to St Augustine. Gordon's dental associates. I called them that morning and was there 3 hours later getting my tooth pulled. Dr Gordon is incredible! Don't know if they take that insurance though. I feel for ya.
