Dr Vagovic! I was a patient of Halifax Ob/Gyn for 20+ years. Until they refused to see me because I had Medicaid as a secondary insurance during my second pregnancy. They are all about the money and not patient care! But switching to Dr. Vagovic was the best! He has the best office staff and the most amazing bedside manor. You won't be disappointed!

Question from a mom: " I just found out I'm pregnant with my second child. My OBGYN experience with my first child was a nightmare. I want to be able to enjoy this...
Jaimie S. replied:
NONE! Florida Hospital DeLand is horrible! Find a doctor in Daytona and deliver at Halifax where you will be treated like gold!
Anita W. replied:
I can say with upmost certainty I would never refer or use Dr. Larrain. My daughter had him as her OB. He was a JOKE, she was in pre term labor NOT once did he go to the hospital to check on her. His mid-wife did. Thank goodness my daughter had a nur se who was observant and cared, after spending almost 2 weeks in the hospital on bedrest. She was transported to Orlando, as her unborn baby was at risk. As a result of his being incompetent my daughter nearly died. I HIGHLY recommend Dr Carbiener.
Ashley F. replied:
I know you're wanting to stay in town but I HIGHLY recommend Volusia OB/GYN . They deliver at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona and are absolutely amazing! All the doctors on call are great! Tapia, Desai, & Robertson (Delivered my son ) all amazing! Check out their website site www.volusiaobgyn.com. Plus, they take CareCredit! Go to http://www.carecredit.com/ and check that out too. It's a medical credit card. Great to use when you have no cash and need to fork up something. Lastly, for the love of God, don't use Dr. Brooks. I wont bash his name on here but I'm sure if you ask around and check out reviews online, you will see why. Best wishes to you! smile emoticon
Denise F. replied:
Dr. Stavoy and Dr. Carbeiner in Daytona and definitely Halifax Hospital.
Amanda C. replied:
Dr. Parker with Advanced Women's is awesome. He delivered my second son. Offices in Lake Mary and Deltona. Had a bad experience with my first with Halifax OBGYN.
Wendy S. replied:
I just had my son on January 10 th at Florida Hospital Altamonte. The whole birthing floor was just remodeled in October and it is awesome! I also went to Advanced Woman's and all of the midwives and nurses in the practice were beyong great. Dr. Boulting performed my emergency c section because my son was breeched, and everyone from Dr. Boulting to the care nurses at the hospital were great.
Kristen P. replied:
Dr. Meyers at Halifax. I would run from FH Deland- any place who refuses to let patients have VBAC births because they don't have a on site anesthesiologist 24/7 isn't prepared to handle any other real emergencies either in my opinion.
Rachel V. replied:
Me, friends and family love Dr. White in daytona. Deland hospital is terrible.
Jessica H. replied:
Deland is not the place to deliver and Dr. Larrain was very impersonal and careless I was having major liver issues and he acted like I was interfering with his day by coming in to be seen .... But Deland is not a good place to deliver either
Rob U. replied:
Ehhh I wouldn't suggest Dr. Larrain- he just delivered my daughter and we didn't have the best experience. He very bluntly told me if I didn't have a c-section my daughter and I would die from a possible infection (because my water broke 48 hours earli er and I hadn't dilated). I got an epidural and After about an hour later I pushed her out with out c-section and cut me so I wouldn't tear and when he stitched me up he did a horrible job. It took six months to heal and didn't heal correctly.. and I have a friend who had a similar bad experience. He seems like a pretty nice Dr but when I was already an emotional wreck and I almost feel like he was trying to scare me into a c-section. I just feel he could have handled that discussion better... Overall everything was worth it my daughter is the best and she was healthy & safe so all is well but He will not deliver anymore of my babies.
Deanna N. replied:
I would recommend staying away from Dr. Larrain!! Bad experience...
Marcey C. replied:
I had Dr. Larrain with my 2 children. They were born in De Land hospital. They were both were high risk pregnancies and they were both close calls but he was on top of the game. He was the best doctor for me.
Amanda S. replied:
Deliver in Ormond and use Dr. Larrain. He saved my life after I delivered. I'm very thankful for him and he's incredibly brilliant.
Virginia D. replied:
I had a horrible experience at deland with my 1 st but with my second I went to Advanced Women's Health Specialists in deltona & delivered at altamonte hospital and it was amazing!
Lindsey L. replied:
Dr. LARRAIN!!!
Stacey W. replied:
I had both of my kids at Deland and had wonderful experiences with both. However, I will say, although Dr Larrain is a nice guy with decent bedside manner, he's a huge pushover for c-sections....he delivered my first. Dr. Brooks and Pottinger (Pottinge r is no longer around) delivered my second and I had no issues. Dr Brooks and Dr Rawji are now together...so I'm sure you see both if you go there. PM if you have any other questions.
Cheri H. replied:
Dr Larrain delivered my third after having brooks for my first two kids. Definitely liked Lorraine better. To me he seems more patient to answer questions and more personable. All my children born at DeLand hospital with no issues
Candy B. replied:
Dr. Larrain smile emoticon
Renee M. replied:
I had a horrible experience with Dr Larrain and would not recommend him at all.
Melanie S. replied:
We use Dr. Cortez at Halifax OBGYN and he's been awesome. We are having 2 nd child in 3 weeks.
Colleen M. replied:
Dr Larrain smile emoticon . He is great!
Tassie K. replied:
I would not go with Dr Larrain he is a nightmare. I had him with my first son and was not happy with how he handled anything. I was lucky to get out and away from him. He doesn't care about what you want and he also try's and push you to have a c-section. Has no bed side manner.
Lourdes P. replied:
Dr. Larrain
Coni P. replied:
Dr. Larrain was fantastic, and he delivered my 5 th baby. I was high risk because I was almost 40 and my baby was large. He was fantastic and it was the most relxed pregnancy and delivery of my life.
Rhonda H. replied:
Dr. Rawji in Deland is amazing, he backs the birth center and his patient care is amazing, so compassionate and caring.
Teresa L. replied:
Dr. Cortez at Halifax OBGYN is AWESOME!! He just delivered my son last month at Halifax. The staff at the hospital was great as well! My first 3 were delivered in Deland.....no comparison to this last delivery!! SO glad I found Dr. Cortez! He has the BEST bedside manner & listens to every concern or question & NEVER makes you feel rushed.
Cheryl H. replied:
Dr. Larrain ruined my body!!! He delivered both my son and daughter and I paid the price
Morghann N. replied:
I would recommend against Dr. Larrain. He is a nightmare. He was my Dr. when I was pregnant with my twins. I lost one of them during my 5 th month of pregnancy and delivered the surviving twin at 32 weeks. I went back to him for my next pregnancy. My wa ter broke preterm at 25 weeks and I delivered my son preterm at 29 weeks. Dr. Larrain never closely monitored my pregnancies though they were both high risk. He never listened to any concerns I had and didn't take me seriously about my water breaking until I was admitted to the hospital. I nearly died having my son and as a result of his carelessness, my son was born with a bleed in his brain and very sick.

Cassandra S. replied:
I'm partial to Ormond hospital myself. I had a bad experience at Halifax an avoid them at all costs. I woukd recommend chosing a provider that will birth at Ormond. I didn't have a good ending with dr. Lorrain with my second birth. I was highly upset with him. I've heard bad things about modad.. I am currently seeing volusia obgyn but am looking to to switch to a midwife soon. Either st augustine or in Daytona, haven't decided and fought with my insurance yet. I want a home/water birth for my third baby

Love, love, love Dr. DaSilva. Delivered my daughter (C-section because of me, not her) 12 years ago. Always takes her time with me, great bed side manner....my experience with Meyers not so much, but I know others feel differently.
Jillian C. replied:
I had Dr. DaSilva deliver my son vaginally. She was great! I saw Dr. Myers in the office and he was super sweet and really took his time. I also had a change of insurance and I’m now with Volusia OBGYN and I really like that office! You rotate to see all 4 docs so they all know your case and preferences, and so you know who ever happens to be on call the day you go into labor. They all prefer a vag delivery too. Due in a few weeks!
Julie J. replied:
So what happens when you go into labor with Meyers/Dasilva office? Do you choose who comes or do they just send whoever is on call at that time?
Kayla I. replied:
Dr. Meyers is amazing. He delivered my son 2014, he delivered my little sister 2002, & the Dr that has recently left delivered me. That office has amazing doctors & I always love to go there.

Dr. Robertson. I went to him when I first moved here, and was bummed when they stopped taking my insurance. Switched to Dr. Stavoy, who has no personality, and am switching back to Dr. Robertson soon. He's so nice
Laura C. replied:
I have begged and pleaded with Dr Meyers staff to let me see him since he delivered my daughter But he is no longer accepting patients with Medicaid. He is an amazing doctor but you would have to get different insurance unfortunately
Courtney J. replied:
When I first moved here I was in middle of a miscarriage. The baby hadn't had a heartbeat for a few weeks already and my doctor from where I moved from suggested I go to a local hospital to get a d&c ... I went to Halifax. The ultrasound tech "could not find the baby" and sent me home saying I must have somehow missed it. ... 9 weeks later, I finally passed the baby. Thankfully my body did it's job, but the risks of infection in such circumstances are pretty high. . .. I know this isn't a review of OBGYN, but I can tell you when I discovered I was pregnant this year, I was careful to be sure I wouldn't end up at Halifax. The woman's center of Orlando delivers through Winnie Palmer in Orlando, but they have an office in altamonte which is a little closer. They do ultrasounds every visit which is nice and reassuring, and the doctors are great.
Too R. replied:
Halifax is careless I don't even go there for an ER visit, I'm delivering at Winnie Palmer in Orlando
Elizabeth W. replied:
Dr Meyers is AMAZING!!! He delivered my first two, but just know you will wait a while for every appointment. If you don't mind the 30-45 min wait go for it! I switched OB's because I moved and with 2 kids at home, I didn't have time to wait to see him every month.
Lizzie L. replied:
Women's Care at Florida Memorial hospital is the best
Donna C. replied:
Do not use Dr Whitney Shoemaker. I ended up being rushed to the ER and having a completely unnecesary emergency surgery because she has no clue what shes doing. Now I go to Dr John White. Hes very good.
Ruthie F. replied:
Dr John Meyers is the best. Mason and Clyde Morris.
Can anyone recommend a good OBGYN that accepts United Health Care, besides Womens care?

OBGYN Pregnancy question Port Orange area: Anyone with experience with the offices of Dr Gilmore/DaSilva/Meyers? Do you know if they are advocates of vaginal deliveries?...
Derek S. replied:
Dr. Meyers is pretty great, he’s real laid back and chill, keeps it to a point.
Stephanie C. replied:
Dr Myers is amazing, he delivered my twins and was 100% for me having them vaginally and only going to c-section in an emergency situation. After 1 st twin my contractions stopped and he stayed there and him and a nurse worked for another 25 minutes to get my contractions started again instead of jumping to a c-section. My twins were 27 minutes apart.
Rob A. replied:
Pamela Carbiener she is in Daytona, she delivered my son and his sister! Both were preemies, she is honest trustworthy and has a heart for each and everyone of her patients!
Brittany W. replied:
Dr Meyers is awesome! He was my doctor and delivered all three of my sons 10, 5, and 3, vaginal. He makes you feel comfortable and is funny and laid back.
Kaisha B. replied:
I see Dr. Dasilva out patient and I WISH she would have delivered me. But I had an insurance issue. She has been my OBGYN for 10 years tho. Great Office!
Amy P. replied:
I have Dr. Meyers and my niece delivered with Dasilva. Both are amazing.
Jackie B. replied:
Dr. Gilmore (although she's been there a while) is newer to the office then DaSilva and Myers. My mom sees Dr. Gilmore and loves her. I've seen Dr. DaSilva like 16 years. She delivered my daughter and was great. She prepared me for my vaginal delivery. I had to have an episiotomy because my daughter stopped breathing on her way out, but she was awesome through my entire healing process. I delivered at Ormond. If you have any questions please PM me:-)
Lori P. replied:
Dr. Gilmore delivered my daughter 8 years ago. I delivered vaginally. Tore, but she made sure I was good to go, used pain meds one day and was walking just fine. I was actually prepped for a C-Section due to a swollen pelvis and she was not coming, but she finally made her way down at the last minute and she still let me deliver vaginally. I was told by the nurses that any other doctor would have still gone through with the c-section. She wanted that as a last resort because I did not want one. I’ve been seeing her since I was 19. I am 31 now. She is VERY sweet and listens. I have a one then two rule and she remembered and never fails me.
