Anyone have a dog that gets anxiety when they go to the vet? Our pretty mellow Rottie hates going to the vet and becomes super crazy (needs a muzzle) when she gets her...

Hmmm..dogs can be pretty funny...I take my foster dogs to Jeffrey's Animal Hospital in Livonia, but my personal dogs go to Canton Center Animal Hospital..both vets are really good

They're pricey, but Dr. Davis at the VCA clinic at Inkster and Ford is pretty awesome. Have you tried giving the annual shots yourself?

why don't you try Dr hermann? he has several locations.one of which is Pets Supplies Plus on Thursday nights from 5-8pm walk-in Clinic. he also will come to your home with his moble van, although i don't know what the charge for that is. he has discounted prices that he charges at the various sites that he goes to, wellness packages for the vaccines, etc.... he is so good with the dogs and cats, I rarely see any of the pets have to be muzzled that come to see him, but if yours needs to be, i am sure he will be very gentle with your dog. he is very lowkey with my dog and the only thing my dog dislikes at all is when he puts the kennel cough vaccine into Fender's nose, Fender hates this, and he squims during this part. other than that he lets them draw his blood, give him vaccine shots weigh him, check his teeth, whatever-noproblem. I think you would really like Dr. hermann. he is very smart, uses commonsense, if a home remedy will work he will have you do that over an expensive medicine, he will send you to a specialist if one is definitely needed though. so here is his number-cell:313-686-5701 and www.mobilevetclinic.biz, hope this is helpful for you. your dog will thank you if you switch to this vet, trust me. he is a wonderful vet, a wonderful man, he has something special about him when it comes to the animals. my dog adores him!

Hi Bonnie - Thank you so much. I forgot to post an update.:-) We actually did end up going to see Dr. Hermann at one of his walk-ins. Our dog was still jumpy despite being on Rescue Remedy, but no muzzle needed, so I call that a win. Mission accomplished.

I have a foster dog who has major fear aggression, which we pretty much got ahold of (his was more than just at the vets...so Jeffry Animal Hospital put him on the lowest dose of prozac.. He still gets anxious but no where NEAR how scared he was before)
