Sweet solutions is in Youngsville. They are great, too. Guglhupf is more like a traditional old fashioned bakery you used to find in New York with a large selection of real breads, rolls, as well as pastries and cakes:)

Everyone of my children's 1 st birthday cake orders included the smash cake at no additional charge. But it has been so long now, not sure if the bakeries still do that. I know Sweet Solutions in Youngsville is doing my son's 18 th bday cake and they're a joy to work with.

Maybe Nana's? Their tables are fairly spread out. I haven't been with a large group, though.

Taberna Tapa's, Basan Sushi, Lantern might have a private room, Refectory Cafe has 'captains tables' which are square rather than long and narrow.

There's an agile software lunch meetup that meets regularly and moves around to various restaurants. You can check their history for ideas: https://www.meetup.com/Agile-Lunches/#past

Bull McCabe's or anywhere with large outdoor space so you don't get all the noise bouncing off the walls and back at you.

Look for places with a private dining room. [This list](http://www.cvent.com/rfp/durham-nc-restaurants-627 e2 cad66 d4454 ba89 c3 e18 a7 d2 db37.aspx?so=1) might give you some ideas. Make group reservations quite a bit well in advance, (like a month if you can). Some of the more popular venues book their private dining areas way out. Also, you might see if the restaurant inside the Hilton can hook you up with a private dining room.

I had a cake from Mad Hatter in Durham and while the cake itself was good it looked awful. It was for my sons 1 st birthday. If you don't want a lot of designs and looking for taste they should work. But designs...I would pass.
