I delivered both my children at Mt. Sinai. I had a wonderful experience the first time, and a "more wonderful" experience the second time. Personally (and also resonated by my doula), the Mt. Sinai hospital system has become more baby and mom centric and has began to incorporate age-old birthing wisdom into its medical practice of delivering babies.

I had a Dr in NYC I loved too but was nervous to deliver at Mt Sinai for distance and wanting own room and switched to Brescia group at 26 weeks after falling in love w Englewood hospital during a tour. I do miss my ob but I will say now at 37 weeks living in Hoboken and having the ob in the same town makes life much easier!

I delivered at Englewood in December and had a great experience. My doctor, Dr Saphier was phenomenal and he is located a few blocks from the hospital.

I left my NYC doc at the end of my second tri. I switched to Dr. Judy Banks and delivered at Morristown. She did not pressure me to induce even though I was over a week past my due date. She was supportive of natural childbirth (though I eventually got an epi, but she did not pressure me into it). I spent part of my labor in the tub. And I was guaranteed a private postpartum room where my husband was welcome to stay. So, our family stayed together until we checked out of the hospital. I am really glad that I switched.

I just delivered my first baby at Englewood 2 weeks ago. Had a great experience. The rooms in L&D and at the Mommy/Baby Unit in Englewood are top notch and the private rooms basically made it a no brainer for me to deliver in NJ v. NYC. Nursing staff is magnificent. I also went to the Brescia practice - Dr. Lowe took care of me during my first 20 hours of labor before Dr. Brescia delivered me and he was fabulous and calming during the experience.
