looking for an art camp for my 12 year old who's going into 7th grade in the fall for the summer..any suggestions?
Jo K. replied:
They are going to have something at Alaskaland this month where everybody that has some kind of summer program can showcase what they are offering. I forget when it is though- maybe look on the newsminer page. The newsminer also usually publishes a list of everybody who are offering camps in the summer. Vicki Salmon has one of the cabins at Alaskaland and she has programs for kids every summer plus there is the Fairbanks Arts Festival in July- I'm not sure about the ages for the but I think atleast some of the classes are open to Jr High Students.
Actually, the Summer Arts Festival is geared toward adults. The one for kids is https://www.uaf.edu/art/artacademy/

The Summer Fun for Kids camps list should be available in the News-Miner on April 12. It includes the camps and activities that were submitted for publication.

We love Northern Pet Carehttp://northernpetcare.com/ They are out Chena Hot Springs Road, but for us, the drive is worth it. We have a German Shepherd and Golden Retriever and he lets them bunk together. wink emoticon

Trail Side is great. But I'm not sure she'd take a dog all winter. We also use ABC regularly. Our dogs love it there.
Daisy H. replied:
I use Holy Dog. I'm not gonna lie--they are a bit chaotic and disorganized, and their prices are a bit on the steep side--but they lovelovelove my dogs, so I don't want to go anywhere else. I know they do long-term care because they have clients who work on the North Slope and are gone for long stretches. They also do rescue and fostering, so I know that my $ is going to a good place.

What kind of training Ricky? Besides those listed, I'll throw in Byers Lake Campground (you can do Kesugi Ridge) or Ophir Creek/Mt. Prindle Campgrounds in the White Mountains.
