My two favorite areas are Tin Cup pass & The Great Sand Dunes. When you take Tin Cup you get to see two of Colorado's coolest old time mining towns (St Elmo & Tin Cup) plus great fishing at mirror lake. Not to mention the trails at Mt. Antero & Mt Princeton which are near by. The Sand Dunes offers the Little Medano trail through the eastern edge of the dunes plus all of the other activities that are in the park. Both areas are only a few hours drive from Co Springs.

There's not a lot of "great" trails to camp "on" at the moment because of snow. But a lot of good places you could camp near. Buena Vista and salida have tons of good trails nearby. Lots of camping down in that area also. Four Mile has a ton of dispersed camping and isn't far from those towns.
