Massage Tools to Save Hands (3 CE) is offered by some of Lolita Knight's certified instructors (Olympic Massage). I'm planning to include NMT-Bars when I teach it next. (I'm located in Illinois) http://www.fijianmassage.com/other-courses.html
IL practice act says with regard to tools that LMTs may apply techniques with "a massage device that mimics or enhances the actions possible by human hands." The act does not enumerate particular tools. http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/ilcs3.asp?ActID=2469... I agree that these tools are very capable of causing damage if wielded by people without training. (Just as elbows are capable of causing damage (and I've worked with clients who have been injured by other MT's elbows). I don't recognize the acronym ANT - I assume you are not talking about "Advanced Nail Technician"

I took different TPT classes with Rick Robinette and he did give good information on how to use TPT tools WITH hands. But in 1997, some of our teachers also had the "if you can't use your hands, this isn't for you":( .

A t bar. I got my first one in 1986 when I trained with Paul St. John in Trigger Point Therapy. I used it for paraspinals, as that is how we were taught. I didn't ultimately end up liking the T bar because it was uncomfortable for my hands, oddly enough.

Gil Daley II my suggestion would be to see a chiropractor first. Get an adjustment then followed up with a massage. A massage will feel great initially but if something is a little off in there, the pain will come right back. I would suggest Fort Worth chiropractic Dr. Jeff Johnson.
