Still relatively new to the area and need to find a good female Primary Care Physician - not worried about insurance (I can look that up), and will drive a little out of...
Jenny W. replied:
I highly recommend Dr. Angela Marshall of Womens Comprehensive Care. Her PA, Cristy Neal is most excellent, also. They are very much on top of things. I trust them totally. There are two office locations at Glendale and Silver Spring.
Thea B. replied:
I use Vanessa Allen in Glenn Dale, Md and really like her and she has a relatively new physicians assistant who is awesome!
Sabine H. replied:
Those of you who use Dr. Allen in Glenn Dale, is she a general family practitioner? Does she do well-women visits? Does she see patients under 18 years old? Thanks!
Julie W. replied:
I like Waseem Hussain over by Doctors Community Hospital.
Carissa R. replied:
Thanks everyone! I had seen Vanessa Allen in my research online but some reviews were negative saying it's hard to see the doctor, and that you generally just see the PA - but Thea, knowing you like the PA is helpful! Thanks also for the Silver Spring suggestions - since I work in Annapolis I try not to have to travel westward (traffic scares me, ha!)
Jennifer O. replied:
Here is her website: http://www.naturalfamilywellness.com/index.php. I do my annual well-women visits with her.
Thea B. replied:
Sabine Hentrich yes she does.
Jennifer O. replied:
And I've always seen Dr. Allen... Never a PA.
Thea B. replied:
I actually like the PAs bedside manner better than Dr. Allen.
Joan W. replied:
Dr. Zahra Ahmed at Dus Family Medical. It's just behind Greenway Center. She's fantastic. I feel well taken care of and she's provided some really common sense health guidance over the years. I should mention they see a lot of muslim patients so don't be surprised by a high density of head scarves in the waiting room. It's certainly never interfered with my care
Thea B. replied:
I used to go to Angela Marshall but I always had to wait forever for an appointment. I like Dr. Allen's practice much better.
Candice S. replied:
Katherine Siriani PA at Associates in Family Practice in Silver Spring. She's great and has good bedside manner.
Bob R. replied:
http://www.cameronmedicalgroup.com/physicians.html in Silver Spring. They used to be in a private group practice but joined with GW. Ruth Kevess-Cohen, in particular, has an outstanding reputation throughout the Washington area. The other docs are very good. I've heard good things from people whose opinion I respect about the NP and PA but I have no knowledge about them. Of course, it always depends on what you're looking for in, and from, a physician and the kind of relationship that you want from them as an individual and a physician.
Jennifer O. replied:
I used to go to a PA at Cameron Medical Group. I got tired of the trek to Silver Spring along with the super-busy practice. I am now seeing dr. Vanessa Allen in Glenn Dale. Really enjoying her and the smaller size of the practice.
Janet M. replied:
Several coworkers have started going to Stephanie Trifoglio in Greenbelt. She comes highly recommended but my first appt isnt until mid November!
Jeanelle F. replied:
I go to Rita Pabla in Laurel. Love her. She knows Im not a big fan of taking prescription drugs and she suggest national things when she can.

Carolyn A. replied:
Try Dr. Camille Woodson at 301-292-1590 E. Swann Creek Road in Fort Washington. She's good a cool. I used her for years as my family practitioner.
Stephanie S. replied:
Toinette Thompson-Jones, our doctor is by far the best and you will not be disappointed. I started going first and now my entire family goes to him...even my uncle claggett. But he is in Greenbelt....still, Dr. Tom Maslen at 301-220-0200. His staff is goes through menopause at times but they are sweet.
I know this has been asked before but I need a recommendation for a good female GP in Greenbelt who isn't afraid to take on a patient with a rare condition.
Beverly L. replied:
Dr Stephanie Trifoglio is great! I also heard Dr Malik is great 240-241-7474 in front of Drs Hosp

Annie S. replied:
Glad to hear about Dr. Maslen. I just made an appt as my former doctor just dropped medicare and I was left stuck and unwilling too pay out of pocket. Dr. Maslen takes medicare & united health care.
Bob R. replied:
Dr. Maslen does take Federal BC-BS and several of the various "Blue plans." I can't say he takes all of them though.
Linda M. replied:
Dr. Ursula Poydras--on Greenbelt Road in Lanham
Beth C. replied:
If you can't find a woman, I definitely second Dr. Thomas Maslen as a primary care doctor. He has an excellent bedside manner, takes time to listen to and answer your questions, treats you with respect, and has a helpful staff. Also, you're rarely waiting more than 10 minutes for him, and he is on the list for BlueCross BlueShield. And right in Greenbelt.
Lesley C. replied:
dr t the no is 301-345-5857 she is in the Maryland trade center at the greenway shopping center
Rich P. replied:
Maslen does not take Blue Cross/Carefirst Blue Choice. Yay Universal Health Care!

Dr. Nader Dakak located in Glenn Dale. He is excellent. A very caring, hands on doctor. I worked with him a few years back. He was also my neighbors cardiologist. Also Dr. Joseph Mathews located in Riverdale. I worked for him for a long time. Great doctor also.
Bonnie S. replied:
I see Dr. Sufia Syed on Greenway Center Drive. She spends a lot of time with you but consequently the waiting room stay is quite long. There is at least one other female doctor in practice with her.
Lawrence P. replied:
Greenbelt, MD' class='name_reco'>Doctor David Granite is an internist and excellent too. Also specializes in pediatrics and geriatrics. Keeps up on the latest studies and has excellent patient doctor skills. Appointments are usually on time give or take 5 minutes. Front staff are pleasant and no hassles. I have been a patient for 15 years. He recently moved from the Center to 7500 Hanover Parkway Suite 206 Greenbelt, Md 20770
Bob R. replied:
Mike Schwartz at 7500 Hanover Parkway is an excellent cardiologist. He's very well respected by physicians throughout the metro DC area. He's also a genuinely nice guy with a warm bedside manner.
Bob R. replied:
Internal Medicine - Greenbelt is fortunate to have Dr, Thomas Maslen at 7525 Greenway Center Dr. He has a friendly and outstanding staff and he's a been named a top physician by his peers on many occasions. He listens, cares and has a terrific bedside manner. He also stays up-to-date with the latest national NIH and various Board recommendations for items like cholesterol and blood pressure management. Stays on schedule except for emergencies, as well.
Linda B. replied:
Lawrence Timothy Phelps, sad to say that when Dr. Granite sold his practice, he said he would be retiring in two years. That looks like the end of 2015 or beginning of 2016. He's been my doctor for 14 years and hate the thought of having to break in a new doctor...lol
Soooo glad I made the switch from my downtown dentist. Now, can anyone recommend a local GP?
Alison C. replied:
I really like Dr. David Schachter D. O. (He's in Greenbelt)
Ela F. replied:
Dr. Mostaan in Greenbelt is my GP. Can't think of the address at the to of my head, but he comes up in Google.
Kevin S. replied:
Dr Granite is a great GP, but his office staff is the worst
Beth T. replied:
We were referred to Dr Thomas Maslen by our next door neighbors, and my husband and I have both been very happy with him.
Jeff T. replied:
Yep! Dr. Maslen is at (301) 220-0200, right behind CVS/Safeway on Hanover Pkwy. kitty-corner from the post office.
Stephen O. replied:
I'm very happy with Dr. Maslen as well. In fact, I switched my health care provider so that I could stay with his practice.
Karen P. replied:
I love Dr. Tom Maslen! He works WITH you on your health; he does not talk down to you but treats you as a peer. Unfortunately, he no longer accepts UHC.
Alison G. replied:
Another Dr. Maslen fan. Just started going to him this year and really like how he uses email/EHR/technology but listens and talks to you, doesn't rush, and doesn't just throw prescriptions at you.
Hey Greenbelters! I am looking for a new primary care doctor or preferably a nurse practitioner. I would like for them to be in the Greenbelt area. Thanks in advance ☺
Jenny P. replied:
I go to Comprehensive Women's Health, with offices in Silver Spring (not far off Beltway) & now Glenn Dale (probably closer to GB). I've seen Dr. Angela Marshall [to whom a specialist referred me for PCP] as well as their NP. It's a very thorough physical, if you're a certain age it includes checking your heart w/electrodes every 2-3 y. They also take male patients & from physicals my husband & I were both diagnosed w/Vitamin D deficiency. Dr. Marshall said so many of their patients are deficient from today's indoor lifestyle that they check. With supplements, my level is normal, but it's important to me they caught it as it's necessary for bone health & there's strong history of osteoporosis in my family. They also discovered my husband has an autoimmune thyroid condition. His test wasn't hugely off but they just got another vial of blood, found out it was autoimmune & sent him to an endoc. But it's not oppressive over-testing like full body scans. Appointments aren't over-long, average or less time in waiting room, can get in quick for sick visits. Also, they've got e-records so you can access your tests and everything online. http://mdforwomen.com/about/

Thanks for the recommendation! I used to see 2 different people at Granites office but they no longer work there. Or I will go to patient first

Dr. Yablonowitz at metropolitan medical specialists. Here in Greenbelt at Doctor's Hospital.
Holly R. replied:
Dr. Schachter is amazing but he moved from Greenbelt to College Park. He's worth the ride though (he's very warm and spends time and doesn't rush patients). He's also very good at diagnosing - I had some docs (young) in an ER that couldn't figure out my issue and he knew almost immediately. (301) 345-4400College Park Medical Center 4701 Melbourne Place College Park MD 20740 (He's in the Urgent Care building near the fire house - but although other docs in that place will see someone without an appointment, you'll need an appointment to see him.

Hi neighbors! Can anyone refer an amazing primary care doctor? Ideally, greenbelt but open. Also potentially allergist and dermatologist too? Tell me why you like them!...
Marion H. replied:
Thomas Maslen is phenomenal! Very down to earth, informative, no long wait times, very knowledgeable, we just love him as has everyone I've referred to him.
Annie S. replied:
Dr. Tom Massena is my doctor as well. In addition to Marion BoehmHolland's report, I'll add that he listens, asks questions. The first time I saw him I took a synopsis of my medical history. He read it, (total shock) and also asked questions about it. He even asked about mental health. Ok, we are having an ongoing discussion about a medical test that remains borderline. If I slip over to "disease state" he wants me on medication that I'm not willing to take. He listens, explains the research... anyway, I believe he is the best medical provider I've ever had in my 68 years.
