If you haven’t looked in York County, SC (Rock Hill or Ft Mill),I would highly consider it. The schools are far better than CharMeck, taxes are lower and commute less of a bear. The road construction north of Charlotte is insane. **I grew up in Harrisburg, lived in Charlotte as an adult, and now reside just south of the border.

We actually lived in Harrisburg but moved to Charlotte last August. Harrisburg is not the small town it was when I was a kid. We’re in Highland Creek and love it. We’re also very happy with the schools (Highland Creek Elementary, Ridge Road Middle and Mallard Creek High). Property taxes are higher, but not outrageous compared to other large cities.

If you’re concerned about schools, try looking at great schools.org, they will help you pick the best school for your kids and they’re usually in decent areas.
