Anyone know an affordable (and trustworthy) auto repair shop in town? I recently took my car to Firestone to run a diagnostic, and the work that needs done would run me...
MisterMeiji replied:
Off-topic, but NEVER take your car to Firestone, unless it's to buy Firestone tires. My friends and I have had terrible luck with them... they tend to scrape the bottom of the barrel when hiring mechanics. So you get diagnoses that are wrong (because the mechanic doesn't know any better), your car might come out more broken than it was going in, you might get stuff stolen from inside your car. We have always had these kinds of problems with Firestone.

Make, Model, Year of car may help as well as details on what Firestone found. In the meantime you can [search](http://www.reddit.com/r/Columbus/search?q=car+repair&sort=new&restrict_sr=on) and find scores of general recommendations. As always bear in mind there is no such thing as Cheap / Good / Fast. Pick 2.

Honestly, I don't trust mechanic shops,......but, http://www.firstchoiceautoclinic.com/ has been pretty good to me and my wife. They always try to get the best price on parts. My wife needed the heater fan replaced and it took them longer than thought to give us a price and fix it...their excuse?...."sorry, I had to call all around the city to get a decent price on the fan. " EDIT: also, OP mentioned location ffs. Why are you sending them all over the place?

I always take my car to Howiler's at 460 Ternstedt Ln Columbus, OH 43228 (614) 274-6595. They've fixed my car(s) multiple times and for really cheap too! I went to Ricart to get my power switch for my window replaced and they wanted to charge me $400. Howiler's did it for $75.

I can suggest you for a good and affordable Auto repair shop located in Ann Arbor, which is at a distance of 3 hrs from Hilliard city. This is called Orion Automotive Service and you can check http://oriona2.com/ to get more information about this.

My recommendation is Full Auto Repair@3334 west Broad in Columbus. Father son shop. Great guys and will take good care of your car. Also, if money is tight, which it is for me most of the time, they can work out a payment plan with you.

[SigmaTec](http://www.sigmatecautomotive.com/) Automotive is a very reliable and friendly shop in Hilliard. It's a small shop on Scioto Darby Executive Court, so you pass a lot of other large business buildings and eventually wind your way back to the shop. They replaced the brakes in my 2010 Honda Civic last year and it was far more reasonable than the shop I go to in Upper Arlington.

If you're in the University/Grandview area, I'd recommend Tom and Jerry's on Kenny.

There is no better shop than Don's Car Care in Whitehall. Personal example: took my wife's Saturn to Firestone to check motor mounts as ten engine was "jumpy". They quoted $1500 and said they had to read apart the engine to make sure the mounts weren't stripped blah blah Took it to Don's for a second opinion. $20 to tighten. Done. They could have tried to rape me as I expected to pay a couple hundred or so to replace mounts. But I didn't need it
Anyone know a car mechanic that is reasonable? Maybe one that will work on the side? Please let me know asap please! Thank you!! We are in the Hilliard area.

http://www.clarkautorepaircolumbus.com/ is the website, and the number is 487-1341.

Clark auto in Grandview. He does great work, and doesn't just give out the "blanket" pricing done by the chains... he actually bills only for what he's done, and will try to save you money.

Jay at Nascar Garage off of Bethel road. Very fair and honest
I'm curious if anyone has any history or old photos of this building located at 1331 North High Street just north of 5th Avenue? It appears to have been an old gas...
