I've used http://amipdx.com/ on two purchases and been very satisfied. Highly recommended.

I used [Integrity Home Inspections](http://integrityhomeinspection.com) twice (went pending on two homes). Had a different person look at each house, and both were very knowledgable, helpful, and nice. They also do radon, and sewer scopes.

[Aric Outlaw](http://www.aricoutlaw.com/) - used twice and each time found so many things we needed to address with the seller (first house fell through because the seller balked at taking care of some of the bigger things found).

By all means go for it, they can find stuff you would not, on the other hand, they always seem to miss stuff as well. Their reports also need some analysis, they can call out a lot of stuff that you don't care about. The realtors got this down, the report is for the buyer, not the damn mortgage broker who like to look for an excuse or two to cover themselves in case of foreclosure down the road. Then they can say, hey I looked at it, they made the improvements I demanded, blah blah blah.

Get an insect inspection too. Termites, carpenter ants and powder-post beetles are a thing around here. Not the thing you want to find out about after the sale.

Make sure you get the sewer line inspected, even if the house is relatively new.

I highly recommend [Inspectek West](http://www.inspectekwest.com/). They did my inspection recently and were extremely thorough and pleasant to work with.

We used Jay Hensleigh at Associated Master Inspectors, and he was terrific. Wildly thorough, knowledgeable about things far beyond a typical home inspection, and a very clear communicator.

Susan Walker, http://www.walkerinspections.com/Pages/default.aspx She's great and when the first place I put an offer on turned out not to have a real foundation, she didn't charge me for the 10 minutes we were there.

[Pillar to Post](https://www.pillartopost.com/home) Meticulous as hell. They document everything with photos, giving you plenty to negotiate with... or at least be aware of.
