I also would include any involvement in patient centered medical homes or interprofessional teams in federally qualified health centers or Care Coordination Centers, also involvement in direct care or consultative practice in innovation efforts under CMS. Thanks!

Hello, I was in an RTA and needed emergency services assistance, once the worst was over I was then in a private room on a hospital ward where OTs visited me to assess the damage to my left arm (no nerve conduction, full wrist drop following a break in ulna and radius and dislocated elbow). Read more: www.shelleyamybeth.co.uk I was then discharged and am still seen by an outpatient OT, in Warwickshire, UK. Following my treatment, I decided I wanted to be an OT and now study at UWE in Bristol, one term into a full time course and I am overwhelmed by my own progress and my knowledge through being a patient. I'm not sure any of this will help you, but thought I'd share in case it did.

BRAVO Bronnie Thompson! These processes make perfect sense in how OTs are utilized! Let's pull ppl out of isolation. The problem here is that I don't know that a PCP would even know that one if his/her patients were in isolation. But- you have given me an idea and the courage to push me (I sure need that) as I meet w physicians to market my biz, to pitch this partnering concept of working w them in the primary stage. I'm set up for secondary! Brent Braveman does this seem reasonable? To ask them to consider consulting me when learning that a patient has been isolated? Or learning that parents are struggling w their sensory over/under loaded kiddo is hitting self and others so often- there is consideration of placement? I'm trained to modify Peds age sensory related challenges. I tell u what-- I've grown so much in enthusiasm just in the past 2 months!! I've had my CAPS designation for 3 yrs and have only contracted (in the way Christopher Alterio refers to) until this past august. I'm taking a huge financial hit as I finally get our biz up and running to serve as primary and secondary- not tertiary. It's exciting.

Hi Brent. You might like to track down Becky Marval, primary care occupational therapist in Halifax, Nova Scotia (she is on FB). You can see her describe her work on the Youtube Reaching Out: Today's Activist Occupational Therapist. Here's the link for the full 25 min version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIcfyQ3RwT0..., and for the short 9 minute version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RXL4V505Bw&feature=youtu.be these links are public so you could use this for teaching if you like. Becky also wrote about her work in OT Now, the CAOT news magazine, and students wrote about what they learned when the service was developing. Hope this helps! Liz Marval, B., & Townsend, E.A. (2013). Homelessness: Enabling solutions in primary health-care occupational therapy, Occupational Therapy Now,15(3), 17-19. plus a couple of others wrote up the development of this service. As well as braces I use arthritis gloves which compress the wrist comfortably (Im a programmer so am at the computer a LOT!) That might help. Also I have to have some kind of cloth or warm thing where I rest my wrist as the desk is too cold and that exacerbates things. I also alternate between one handed typing depending which hand is worse and am thinking of getting a Frogpad: http://www.frogpad.com/store.php to help type one-handed quicker
