Smith's opticians - they have an amazing selection curated over decades, new and vintage. If you can't find something in the shop, they can source whatever style/shape you're looking for. They also do custom dye jobs (frames and lenses) and custom shaping. Really affordable too. 4313 Austin St, Houston, TX

[Warby Parker] (http://www.warbyparker.com/sunglasses/women) is online, but they'll send you a handful of glasses to try on and then add the lenses you need. It's getting pretty close to Christmas, so I'm not sure how the timing of shipping glasses back and forth would work.

Not sure what price point you are looking at, but I usually go to [The Eye Glassiers of Houston](http://eyeglassiers.com/) in Uptown Park. They have an extensive selection of oliver peoples, Tom Ford, Persol, Yurman, ect. Yes it is overpriced, but the service is fantastic. It also carries a great selection of optical frames that can't be found elsewhere in the city.

insight optical on sunset@morningside [west u?] is pricey, but awesome. i'm honestly not sure about their sunglasses selection, i always went there for regular frames.

Ended up doing LensCrafters as they had 40% off lenses but visited Smiths, Eye Elegance and Optika. Thanks for all the tips.

I cannot recommend zennioptical.com enough. Complete pairs start at $7. Tinting is about $5 extra and shipping is a flat $5 per order. So a grand total of less than $20 for prescription sunglasses. Just make sure your prescription lists your PD (distance between pupils). Most optometrists don't list it, assuming that your optician will measure it when fitting you. EDIT: Just noticed that you said you didn't want to go online. Oops.

If you want to go in person I suggest JC Penny, when I was there last week sunglasses were 99$ with single vision lenses. Costco is a good place to go, you don't have to have a membership to buy their prescription lenses. If cost isn't a concern Spectacles on Montrose has an amazing selection of unique lenses. Check out [Coastal.com](http://www.coastal.com). ETA: As a first-time customer, you can get your first pair of frames free. Make sure to read up on the terms and conditions.

I got my glasses from Len's Crafters in First Colony Mall, and while I was there I was browsing the sunglasses, as well. Lots of nice, designer frames (if that's what you're looking for?)

Thanks for all these great tips. They are exactly the sort of places I wanted. Think tomorrow will be a brunch in the heights and visit the places around town. Thanks again, really appreciate it.
