Thanks for sharing. Look in your health insurance plan for a co-pay psychologist. You may want to reach out to nonprofit groups like DBSA.org or HAWC.org or unitedwayhouston.org for general guidance to anger management support groups in the area. The people of the support groups will be better to relate to you're experiences and help you find and evaluate your chosen psychologist(s). Finding a match can take some time and being able to share your experience will help you achieve your desired counseling goals. Best of luck!

Not sure what your financial situation is like, but if you don't mind paying for it I loved my psychologist who I went to for anxiety and OCD. His specialty is in anxiety but he also does couples counseling and for my case he saw me and my boyfriend at times just to hash things out that we discussed in his office one on one before at no extra cost. His name is Dr. David Genac and he is located in the Montrose area. I have nothing but praise for him and his help. http://davidgenac2.reachlocal.net/

Psychologists are a waste of money. You just need good introspective friends with natural insight abilities. Why does America always think to solve a problem they must open their wallet? An utterly broken society with no built in support systems is a truly sad thing.

I am an Amicus on a case and desperately need a therapist/psychologist who works with adolescents and offices in the North-West Houston/Cypress area. Anyone?!
Does anyone have kids with learning disabilities and do you know a good educational psychologist that is up to date in the Houston Area?
Angela L. replied:
You need to request an EIP meeting with the school. (Early intervention plan). If he has A DID AND DYSLEXIA he qualified for 504 accomodations. Which can be any thing from a few extra minutes of recess to burn off energy to special education teaching for the dyslexia (which should be automatic). Do a Google search for the IDEA act. They'll give you sample letters you can use to request the meetings and 504 accomodations. Call U of Houston and get him on the list. They won't start testing until September ( it's done by med students, but supervised by psychologist). 281.283.7600.
