I wouldn't go anywhere but Hamilton Animal Hospital. I took my dog to a vet who said my dog had end stage kidney disease and should put my dog down. I went for a 2 nd opinion and with a diet change and fluids once a week my dog is running around and acting like a puppy again. It's been a year and a half and his blood work shows he just keeps getting better.
Lisa G. replied:
I agree about Huntington Beach Pet Hospital. Just adopted 3 dogs from Downey Shelter and Dr. Lewis and his staff took excellent care of them! Our new babies weren't even scared!

Beach City Animal Hospital. My dog was dying of acute renal failure and they sent a tech out to me to help administer IV fluid once a week for about 6 months (because he was too big for me to do it on my own + keep him calm). He was a rescue I'd gotten at the age of 10, and when he died Dr.B said they were all heartbroken because they'd all worked hard to keep him alive. I strongly recommend them. Edit: House calls are not something that they do, but my dog was blind and would panic and soil himself out of fear during office visits, and they had it in their heart to help me.

Beach Garfield Vet Hospital is the only place we will go!!!!

Newport Beach Veterinary Hospital is owned by Dr. Jeffrey Cohen. If you've been to more than one vet and you really want to get to the root of your pet's issue, Dr. Cohen can help you.

We have a Golden Retriever too.:-) We go to dr Love at Hamilton Animal Hospital, and we really like him. Our groomer is Bubbles on Magnolia. I always make an appointment, and our dog never stays there for more than 2 hours. The owner, Valerie, is super sweet.
Chris I. replied:
I also have a golden and have had retrievers for years. I am currently using Pet Vet at Beach and Adams and love them.. Dr Naito has been so great with Kai...Hamilton Animal Clinic is also amazing but a bit more expensive. Pawsh Wash on Yorktown and Brookhurst is the best for grooming. Stephanie the owner has been taking care of all of my dogs for years and is great and reasonable. You will love any of the above.

Pets Smart is terrible to dogs. My dog got an anal gland infection twice after grooming there. Management treated us terribly. Since switching groomers he hasn't had an infection since.
Terry R. replied:
Miranda at Petco on Magnolia and Adams. Best groomer and very compassionate to my dogs needs, (she feared the groomer because she was mistreated). Also, Huntington Beach Pet Vet. Dr. Benington or Dr Naito are wonderful with my dog and cats and don't charge a fortune.

Beach City Animal Hospital and Warner Avenue. Affordable and caring!! And K9 Klippers on Edinger and Bolsa Chica takes great care of my blind dog and he looks great after!
Dr. John Kuttel in the Huntington Harbour Mall is very knowledgable and kind. For grooming I would recommend a mobile groomer that has good reviews.

https://www.facebook.com/192861840490Huntington Beach Pet Hospital is amazing, Dr Lewis is the best around, you can stay with your dog for most things, entire staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They speak to you in a friendly, understandable way. Not saying things only a doctor would understand. And if you have home care instructions, they are written out very clearly and precisely for you. Amazing vet.

Whatever you do DO NOT go to VCA West Coast Specialty and Emergency Animal Hospital. IT'S A TERRIBLE PLACE THAT IS SO MONEY HUNGRY that will take advantage of people that are at their most vulnerable time by demanding at least 3 times the amount of what prices should be While Not Giving A Shit About Your Precious Sick Animal. IF YOU JUST SHOW UP UNANNOUNCED TO VISIT YOUR PET, YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT APROX. 15 WHILE THEY "Stage the scene" to make it appear as if your pet is receiving good care surrounded by 2 employees whom try and appear attentive to only your pet and in the meantime the majority of the remaining animals are all locked in small cages placed in a row along the wall behind the waiting room doors OR at least until their owner shows up for a visit and another "scene " is staged with their pet. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PLACE THAT WILL LEAVE YOU BROKE and UNSATISFACTORY CARR FOR YOUR LOVED ONE.....

I wouldn’t go to All Care/West Coast. Veterinary surgical specialists are really good. She’s going to be high risk anesthesia, you want a board certified surgeon. Not a general practice
Nicole G. replied:
Westminster Veterinary Group - Dr Greenburg if you can - they specialize in small pets, so I am sure they would do fine in checking this out.
Natalie S. replied:
It’s important to choose a vet with cleft pallet experience https://www.facebook.com/125521727605986 . Love For Mia - Cleft Palate Chihuahua is on the east coast but has had fosters out here a few times. I think their vet is up near Baldwin Park but maybe they can guide you more that the average rescue, vet or human.

It’s a little far but Pawspice in Hermosa Beach is best. The doctor Alice Villalobos has a book on Amazon, 5 stars. Look on FB. I went to AAA in Huntington, my dog had 2 ear infections & a breast tumor. The Doctor at AAA didn’t notice either thing, just one week before seeing Alice. Also, Friendly Animal hospital told me my dog had to have 7 teeth removed or she would die, & Alice only found one bad tooth.
