Does anybody know what happened to Dr. Cimino? The phone # is now a different doc and he is no longer on Advanced OBGYN website or office phone greeting...
Katy K. replied:
I got a card this week saying he'd moved to the Center for Women's Healthcare. Phone number for appointments listed as 256-882-1717. good luck, Katy
Amy N. replied:
I was with Dr. Aguayo for my last pregnancy - Cimino is third in rotation with her and Dr. Petersen, so I'm assuming they're on call for him as well.
Brianna B. replied:
Which is where Dr Nix practices......
Wendy R. replied:
are you saying he is on his own just in the same building near Dr. Nix or is he now with Dr. Nix.? From personal experience he isn't very natural birth friendly at all!
I don't know... Just saw the name of the office that Cimino said he was moving to and googled it. Dr. Nix's name came up. I've heard lots of negative things about Dr Nix. I'm very curious what the arrangement is. Please update if you hear
Crystal T. replied:
So, if anyone is still interested. His new office is very small and uncomfortable. He had one nurse switch over with him, but the rest stayed with Dr Conrad. I asked the nurse why he switched, she said because the patients were waiting an hour or more at the old place and they needed more room. She said they are planning to update the waiting room to make it more home and add toys and stuff. I waited a long time, so i didn't buy the wait time as a reason, so asked Dr Cimino, he said it just took a long time because they are still figuring out the systems. He said that was part of the reason, but the other reason is because Dr Nix works with other areas of women health like nutrition and hormones and he was interested in that stuff. He was very nice as usual and said everything will stay the same for births. The doctors he is in rotation with in case he is unable to be there for birth are still the same as they were. Dr Nix is not on the rotation. With the exception of my wait time and my favorite nurse not being there, my experience was good.

I'm hoping to VBAC with dr Reidy in about a month (so I could give better advice in a month ;) ). Tell her to join the ICAN Huntsville group. A lot of good info about drs and other things there. I've heard wonderful things about dr Conrad. I'd get a list of the "top dr picks" and call and ask how they feel about her particular situation (certain drs might be ok with certain things, others not).

Check out the Huntsville ICAN chapter. Brianna Barker can get you more info.

I know you asked about a woman but I absolutely love Dr. Conrad with Advanced OBGYN. He is amazing.
Amory B. replied:
Would recommend Dr Natalie Reddington in Birmingham if that were an option!
Katie H. replied:
Also LOVE Conrad!!
Hannah C. replied:
Dr. Aguayo!!!! Hands down. Very supportive of what a mom wants to do. She's a wonderful doctor and person!:)
Diana K. replied:
Love Dr. Aguayo. Dr. Peterson is a great doctor as well, ended up delivering my baby (Aguayo and Peterson work in the same practice), but I think it's all about who your personality meshes with better. For me, that was Aguayo. I'd interview them both.
April M. replied:
Dr. Eric Tallent!:)
Sabra I. replied:
I've heard really good things about Dr Aguayo too. In fact, when I moved here, I called to set up a consultation with her. The office told me it would be $100 -- if I chose to continue seeing her they would apply it to my account, but if I didn't, I was just out $100. I had never heard of such a thing! But again, lots of good stuff about her in regards to VBAC and natural birth.
Sabra I. replied:
I always had female midwives until I moved here. Now I see Dr Cimino ( shares a practice with Dr Conrad^) and I am very pleased. A friend of mine recently had a successful VBAC with him!
Jessyca H. replied:
Dr talent is great but not very VBAC supportive. I used him for years until it was time I discuss VBAC which is when I moved to Dr Conrad who is very, very VbAc supportive, but a straight shooter at the same time!
Brittany M. replied:
Dr. Samples at Clinic for Women is amazing!
Gillian S. replied:
I had a successful VBAC with Dr Cimino. I highly recommend him.
Rae S. replied:
Dr. Cimino. He is wonderful. I will never go to another OB as long as he's practicing.
Patrease W. replied:
Love, love, love Dr. Aguayo!!! I agree with Diana about the personality differences. Both are great doctors! She has been my OB through all 4 of my pregnancies, including the loss of our first baby at 20 weeks. My other 3 were high risk and I had to have cervical cerclages with each. She is very trustworthy and WILL listen to you and truly has your best interest at heart.
Patrease W. replied:
I believe Dr. Cimino works with Dr. Aguayo/Dr. Petersen for on-call, fyi.:)

Dr. Raiford (of Tenn. Valley OBGYN near HSV Hospital) is awesome! I followed her from Decatur and would follow her to Montgomery if I had too. She has rights to deliver at HH and Crestwood Medical Center.

Dr. Raiford at TVOBGYN. She does a TON of VBACs! She is so wonderful and really cares about her patients. I love her and her nurses! Dr. Reidy is also really great but I don't know how she feels about VBACs. Fyi, Dr. Callison is known for having a really high rate of csections.
Melody J. replied:
I'm not sure about how she feels re a VBAC because I've not been in the situation but I highly recommend Dr. Anne Marie Reidy with Tennessee Valley OBGYN. The whole group is great to me
Deanna D. replied:
Dr. Conrad delivered all three of mine. He was great.
Jennifer T. replied:
Avoid OBGYN Associates. Purvis told me C-sections are no big deal.:-/ Like he'll ever have one done to him. And McCain fed me the narrow pelvis BS afterwards when he wasn't even there!

Brandy P. replied:
Dr. John Cimino!! He has been mentioned here a few times but you can't go wrong with him or his staff. Brilliant man!
Jennifer B. replied:
Dr. Aguayo gets lots of recommendations for supporting mamas in owning their births and doing what they are safely capable of. Dr. Cimino does as well but is not a woman.
Deidra C. replied:
I agree with Melissa, if you are a candidate he is all for it! Dr. Conrad is the favorite OB of the nursing staff, if that gives you any clue:)?
Elissa G. replied:
Dr. Petersen and Dr. Aguayo are amazing. Both are at All Women's OBGYN on Whitesport.

I use Dr. Raiford at Tennessee Valley obgyn in Huntsville. She specializes in high risk. I started using her with Kade bc my ob quit delivering and I adore her. Cody's aunt is her nurse. They are all SO sweet. I will never use anyone else now.
Rebecca G. replied:
Dr. James Nix in Huntsville, he only handles high risk and he was amazing for me, and Wendy you know my medical difficulties. I can get you his contact info if you want.
Joni-Allie M. replied:
I was high risk I went to Dr. Stafford in decatur
Eliana W. replied:
Dr. Raiford at Tennessee Valley obgyn in Huntsville. She is a wondeful christian woman
Cindy R. replied:
Mcain and Purvis at Ob/Gyn Associates of Decatur.
Kelly H. replied:
I was high risk, so I went to Birmingham with Christian. I used Dr. Ronald W. Orso. The staff at Birmingham OBGYN and St. Vincent's Hospital were beyond excellent! But later, when I had Carson, I used Parkway. Sadly, I was mostly unhappy with the care I received there. With high risk you will probably have to go to the doctor very often, so keep that in mind when choosing. However in hindsight, I'd say a little traveling could be worth better, more up-to-date, specialized care.
Is it really this hard to get an appointment with an ObGyn in Huntsville/Madison? Can someone recommend a great woman doctor in the area! Please

Justen A. replied:
If you want a good chance at avoiding a cesarean, go with Dr. Conrad. Interview doctors and remember they work for YOU. Pick one that fits with your needs. Certain offices in town have higher rates of unnecessary inductions and cesareans than others. A sk each doctor their percentage of cesarean vs vaginal birth. If they don't know, that's a problem. If it's over 35 ish%, that's a problem. Also ask their opinion on elective inductions.
Brianne C. replied:

Jessie O. replied:
Yes... Dr. Aguayo for sure!! Her dedication to finding out what was causing my misscarriages, and helping me find a solution was unparalleled. Normally you would need to see a mfms, other specialist or travel to another city for the kind of answers and continued care that she just provides daily for me, in her office and also for her other patients- I know I'm not the only one she has helped with these issues. She's amazing!! And not hurried in her bedside manner either. She'll reassure and explain things. She'll hug and cry with you. Just LOVE her! heart emoticon
