Anyone have a recommendation for a podiatrist or ortho for a possible neuroma?

Dr Ocampo at sportsmed.

Dr Hampton at sports med. she's a foot specialist.
Sandy C. replied:
Dr. Sterling did mine. Excellent! He went thru the top of the foot. Scar minimal. A co- worker had him take care of her and he went thru the bottom (plantar). Recovery was harder.
My friend shared this.....Debbie, I can't comment on your friend's request for a podiatrist....but have used Dr. Midenberg at Whitesburg Podiatry for about 12 years. 27 minutes ago · Like
Debbie M. replied:
but if it's PF, just give up your heels until you feel better after you've done the exercises and stuff. Dr. OCampo may not be who you need to see, he's pretty big on patient compliance.
Debbie S. replied:
I work with Dr OCampo and think he does a great job. I also like Dr Garcia at SportsMED. Plantar fasciitis will just one day be better. Roll your foot over a frozen coke bottle( the curvy oves) or over a golf ball. I used to stand on an ice pack every morning while getting ready for work. Good insoles help. (Fleet Feet ) and stretching your foot well before getting out of bed. Seriously, one day it was just gone! Sorry you are struggling with it!

My sister just had PF surgery by Dr. OCampo .., 3 weeks recovery . I'll let you know in 2 weeks how she is doing

Dr Ocampo removed mine in July and all went well. He's with Sportsmed.

Andrew Walker? Ideas?
Andrew W. replied:
Ali as I understand mortons neuroma, the options Dauna has tried are good ones to offload the neuroma. The other options would be changes in running gait to reduce the load such as a gradual shift to rearfoot strike (if not already doing), or a gradual increase in cadence. Weakness at the hip and knee could also increase load at the neuroma. As far as surgery I have heard good things about Dr Ocampo. From what I have read in journal papers there is up to 35% risk of ongoing pain due to scar tissue occurring during healing. So I would ask plenty of questions if going that route!
Melissa H. replied:
Have you tried zero heel-toe drop shoes yet? Altra has a zero heel-toe drop and a wide toe box. My mom was having Morton's Neuroma issues and after switching to Altras she had no more issues. Fleet Feet sells some Altra models. It might be worth trying them and seeing how they feel.
James F. replied:
Dr Deorio at TOC removed mine from the top. Six weeks no running then gradually built back. I did the cortisone shot twice before having surgery. First time helped for about six months of heavy running. Second one did not help. You can also talk to Nesin Therapy, they may be able to work with you to help fix other problems that may have led to the neuroma.
I am looking for a GOOD foot doctor (Bone Spurs) , any suggestions out there?
Thanks for your help! :)
Brandon L. replied:
Dr. Deorio at TOC. Not sure if I spelled that right. My friend is his Assistant and I had to see him a few weeks ago. Great guy.
Pam T. replied:
Dr Eric Jansen "(orthapeadic surgeon) at The Sports Center (I think that's the name of it) on Whitesburg, close to Crestwood Hospital. He has a very good reputation in the medical field (all us nurses think he is one of the best) and he specializes in lower extremity problems.

My husband recently saw Dr. Sterling at Sportsmed and really liked him.
W O. replied:
Morton's Neuroma.....I have it and so do many others. Dr. Sterling has helped me in managing it.
W O. replied:
Ah sorry, I know that mine is on the bottom, but a podiatrist like Dr. Sterling will give you a better diagnosis. Rather than guessing, bite the proverbial bullet and get it checked. The visit is relatively painless smile emoticon

Bracken S. replied:
Inserts are more important for foot control than a stability shoe. I would first make sure the problem is indeed endemic to the foot and isn't a control issue radiating from elsewhere. Fleet Feet could probably point that out, but just to be sure it wouldn't hurt to walk in a PT. Bo at Results Physiotherapy near Whitesburg Drive is a former cross country athlete, and knows the needs of runners very well.

I am dealing with a foot issue right this instant 12 weeks into marathon training. I have been seeing Dr. Walter Olsen at P3 Sports Care. I've had my second visit yesterday and he really spends time listening and helping. He is a runner so he gets it.
