There are a couple of people who are looking for a neurologist. Could everyone share who you see/have seen?
Beth G. replied:
I am headed to Ohios Mayfield Clinic (surgeons) They could refer someone I bet. Every doctor there is a specialist in chiari/syringomyelia.
Deanna H. replied:
Dr. Rachel Pfeiffer at IU North was my neurologist and Dr Callahan at goodman brain and spine was my nsg and I really like them both!
Debra H. replied:
Dr. Turner of Goodman Campbell@IU Health/Methodist in Indianapolis 317-396-1300
Jennifer M. replied:
Dr. Turner at Methodist did a fantastic job on my daughters decompression surgery.
Cathy B. replied:
The problem is that Neurosurgeons are the ones who are best at treating this disease. In Indianapolis, it is either Riley Neurosurgeons or Dr. Michael Turner at Indianapolis Neurosurgical. Unfortunately, Neurologists are not very aware of this disease and symptoms. We've seen several without knowledge or answers. Fortunately, we have a Pain Doctor who is excellent and is now treating with maintenance meds and long term pain management.
Cathy B. replied:
Yes, because we went through incredible difficulty to find him. She was at IU Neurology, which had a pain management person there. This doctor is Dr. Kolawicz at the Center for Pain Management. He was actually recommended by Stacey, Dr. Boaz's nurse. It was a little difficult to get in, but he has diagnosed and treated issues no one else found and were not on the neurosurgeon's radar. 317-706-PAIN. Since the MRI, he has been especially kind, gentle and understanding of her issues.

My son sees Dr Pappas. He is fantastic. He is very cautious and will not jump to a scan the kids unless he feels it's necessary. (Sometimes scans can hinder brain development in kids under 10). He is fantastic
Jennifer S. replied:
I second Dr. Pappas!

We really liked Dr. Keith Ridell. He saw Luke and he is wonderful! I am pretty sure he sees adults too. He is down to earth, will take the time to talk with you and answer your questions, and he really knows his stuff! He seemed very thorough and very compassionate. He is in the Indy area.
