Hi Everyone - What "doula" techniques would you suggest for an OP baby? We had a difficult birth recently and I ran out of ideas and was wondering if you could give me...
Taiya S. replied:
Hi Claire. Students with Childbirth International are given this and I just found a copy of it open to everyone. Hope it helps. http://www.childbirthinternational.com/resources/Posterior.pdf
Sally B. replied:
Ouch!!! Its an exhausting position for mom and for caregivers. An OP makes for a longer and more painful labour but it can be done. Support, encouragement and back pressure/rubbing from the partner, doula and midwife are invaluable. This is a controversial issue but I think a mom with a baby in this position could benefit from a change of support teams (to at least give some of the team members a break). Also check out spinningbabies.com. but sometimes there is nothing that can be done but to continue and to birth a sunnyside up baby.
Hello wonderful doulas. Can you recommend a good resource for Post Natal Depression, such as a helpline that mothers can call to be referred to other forms of help?

Pndsa.org.za
Sally B. replied:
Yes, PNDSA. Their national help-line is 082 882 0072. Sms ‘help’ and your name to 082 882 0072 and they will call you back. There is also an online PND assessment tool which is quick and easy to use on their website.
