Lana P. replied:
You might find it difficult to find a care provider skilled and willing to do a breech vbac. Are you taking the pulsatilla in a dosage as advised by a homeopath? I would also suggest chiropractic or osteopathy, a colleague of mine Kim Young of www.beautifullyborn.co.za does breech turning scripts(a guided meditation) I would recommend trying to get this baby to turn as you'll have more support for vbac. Good luck.

Melissa J. replied:
Ditto Justine. Your best bet is a homebirth midwife who doesn't intervene and sits in the corner and knits (a la Michel Odent).
Jané F. replied:
Thanks for the feedback! More info and a documentary film can be found at orgasmicbirth.com The basic premise is reprogramming ourselves to experience contractions etc as sensation rather than pain, and creating a loving, romantic space for the birth. Your partner plays a big role in the process. The stimulation and pressure of giving birth is similar in many ways to the stimulation of intercourse and, as such, can possibly lead to experiencing orgasm during birth. There is one book on the subject (companion to the doccie), but I'm also reading Misconceptions by Naomi Wolf for more insight :)

Hi Im looking for a midwife in North West province, south africa willing to do an hbac. Please contact me with some info. Thx
Patricia T. replied:
Good luck Surita, I do hope you can find someone. We have a midwife here in Cape Town doing HBACs (home birth after Caesarean), but I think you are a bit out of her way, unless you can travel down and stay with someone. She has had people come from overseas to do births for her as she offers the most alternatives. She also has doctor and hospital back up at the Mowbray Maternity Hospital, in case transfer to hospital is necessary, which it usually isn't. Could you give us the reason for your first C-section? If it is a non-repeating condition, you are probably a very good candidate for a VBAC or an HBAC. The risk of rupture of the uterus is very small indeed, and outweighs the many problems that can occur in a hospital where the normal, physiological unfolding of the birth process is almost never allowed to occur in its own good time, usually leading to a second C-section. Midwife Marianne Littlejohn can be contacted here on facebook, and she has done HBA1C at home and HBAC3Cs in hospital. Most have been successful!
Patricia T. replied:
Hi Surita, I know you are not even pregnant yet. You must have been really traumatised by the last birth to be wanting to have all your options sorted before conceiving. There are lots of midwives around, and I'm sure you will find what you want. Have you tried the Genesis centre? I'm sure they could find someone willing to do a HBAC for you. As for the older generation, maybe it's best not to tell them what your plans are -- after all, it's none of the business how you birth your baby. Good luck!
