We need an orthodontist. The Harlan boys inherited the Hicklin teeth. Any recommendations? We want a new dentist for the boys, too. Ours just isn't kid-gentle....
Cindy B. replied:
For dentistry we love Shoal Creek Pediatric Dentistryhttp://www.shoalcreeksmiles.com/ I would love recommendations for orthodontists too.
Janice T. replied:
Dr. John Dorsch who is in the Creekwood Common buildings.
Beth B. replied:
I've heard great things about shoal creek, but they don't take our insurance. We go to Dr. Berry in parkville..pediatric dentistry. They are wonderful with Nathan! They do the headphone/ video game/ sunglasses thing.
Sharon S. replied:
And for ortho. Dr. Dorsh. Hes up in Creekwood.
Dawn C. replied:
Our kids use Shoal Creek Pediatric Dentistry too. We love it there . It is very kid-friendly. My kids love going there.
Candy W. replied:
Dr Kavanaugh. Christina recommended him and now I think we will use him for Olivia. Seems like a great dr.
Orthodontists in KC area? My kid needs braces. Hoping to get a few recommendations for an orthodontist in the area, preferably north of the river. Also I'm kind of...
skedaddled replied:
Can't recommend anyone because it's been too many years since my kid had braces but I wanted to say visit several before you decide. There were pretty big differences between treatment plans and costs.

I used Fry Orthodontics for Invisalign a couple a year ago. I would generally recommend them. At the time I think I paid $5250 for Invisalign and metal braces would have been in the $3-4 k range, I'm sure it depends on the patient though. I would say they are very professional and provide very "standardized" care although a bit impersonal. In the Johnson County offices, you would get a different doctor on different days of the week, unless you specifically asked to schedule with the same doc. I'm happy with the service though and all the doctors looked very well credentialed to me.
Tollas replied:
Adult with invisalign. It's going to cost me about $6K for ortho alone. If you have insurance, it can be far less. If I were under 18, it would have been about $1800 instead.
TitianVecelli replied:
Go to the UMKC Dental School, the orthodontics program is incredibly good. I have adult braces from them right now and it cost me $3 k. Highly recommend. https://dentistry.umkc.edu/patients/services-2/orthodontic-clinic/

I'm an adult but in the process of getting braces and finished consultations with 3 different potential providers. Up north I met with Dr. John Dorsch at Creekwood orthodontics - he was teriffic, sat with me for a while and thoroughly explained my treatment and why, he was funny and easy to get along with. However, the office was quite out of shape. Lots of things were broken and old and the girl who took my bite pics didnt know what she was doing, they wanted $6150. Met with Bulleigh Orthodontics in OP and they were great, attentive, explained the treatment plan and reasoning, very nice, professional, wanted $5,100. Met with Fry orthodontics. It took me longer to fill out the paperwork than it did for anyone to talk with me. Doctor spent two minutes with me and recommended a treatment plan that was 6 months shorter and the exact opposite of what the other orthos suggested. most of the time was spent asking what I wanted my monthly payments to be and how much I could put down. They wanted $5,000. I'm going with Bulleigh Orthodontics and would recommend them.

Can anyone recommend an orthodontist in the Springfield/Branson area? Though we've managed to avoid braces for our first four kids my youngest's teeth are bad enough to...
Rachael H. replied:
Dr. Joseph Kerwin - he does a great job with nontraditional trreatments that don't require you to have braces cemented on he uses mostly removable appliances that are much gentler and better for overall jaw health plus the result is a very natural looking smile. The younger the child the better he actually grows the jaw so that the incoming adult teeth have room to come in straight. Very holistic and natural approach and much cheaper then traditional braces. He is in Springfield. 1530 E Primrose St Suite D Springfield, MO 65804 (417) 882-6606 (Office) only in office mon, tues wed WE have sent many people there and not one has not liked him. He has done a phenomenal job with our girls mouths.

Claudine B. replied:
The quote that we last got from Dr. Austin was a mile - $5280 plus molds. Freemont dental was about $1500 less.
Virginia M. replied:
Just tossing in my 2 cents; we went with Becker & Scott (comes highly recommended) over Cash. Becker was less evasive and less expensive, (we have to start with retainer which was recommended by 2 other dentist $380 for 6-12 mths braces will come later), we received a quote from Cash (partial braces $1,850 for 12-18 mths then retainer and back to braces another 6 mths). They tried to sign me up right there at the consult for the payment plan and still sends me emails about non-existent appointments at least once a month. I'm not saying Cash isn't highly recommended because i know several ppl (including our dentist), this has just been our experience with them. They did give us a big plastic drink cup at the consult for free! lol
Sandra G. replied:
A friend of ours says they have went to Dr. Sharpe and it was about $5,000 for full. She says they have dental insurance but that it doesn't cover braces. Has anyone had any luck with their insurance covering any part of braces?
Crystal R. replied:
When I took my daughter for a consultation, Branson Braces offered a payment plan, and so did Austin Orthodondics in Nixa. We haven't yet chosen who we are going to go with, though!
Claudine B. replied:
Austin is good and another place to check out is Buzbee dental in south Springfield or Freemont Dental (they were the least expensive) in Ozark near Lamberts.
Deidre M. replied:
Dr. Cash also has a payment plan. Very reasonable.
Sandra G. replied:
Okay...just to make sure I have the right place...what street is Branson Dental on?
Sandra G. replied:
I wanted to stop here and thank you all for the great advice. I'm happy to say that my son had his first appointment of very many to come with Dr. Becker!
Sandra G. replied:
Yes Melissa, we feel the same as you do about driving to Springfield! I think my sons braces are costing more like $6,000. Though he is cavity free, his teeth are VERY VERY crooked. We had thought about trying Cash (I know she is a part of the "Smiles Change Lives" program. As it turned out, I first heard about Dr. Becker here, we next heard of him from our dentist's list of othros. (Cash was listed there too.) Then my husband realized that he works with someone at Cox who is close friends with the Beckers. My husband took my son to the consultation and really felt it was "meant to be". Praise God they had a payment plan and our insurance will help a tiny bit. We are trusting that we can budget this in, though we'll be cutting back on quite a few unnecessary items until we pay this off!

For an orthodontist, we started out with Comfort Dental at 78 th & Wornall and I cannot recommend them. Horrible experience. Horrible treatment, rude staff. After much research, we switched to Dr. Hemberger at College and Antioch and it was like a night and day difference. Absolutely amazing staff and care. My daughter now LOVES going to the orthodontist if you can believe it. Not in Waldo, but worth the 17 minute drive. And for exactly the same price.
