I live in La Mesa. My regular vet doesn't see rabbits. Any vets in the area you can recommend for his well rabbit check from the Humane Society and to establish care?
Jennifer L. replied:
Pet emergency specially center, Dr. Cecil. You can check the San Diego House Rabbit society website for recommended vets.

Andrea G. replied:
Rancho San Diego Animal Hospital is where I have gone for about 15 years. They are great with rabbits, open on Saturdays, and they have great rates for boarding them over the holidays if you are going out of town.
Kathleen S. replied:
Here is the list of rabbit experienced vets from the SDHRS web site but the comments have pretty much covered closest (Cecil & RSDAH and best value: Grand Animal Hospital): http://www.sandiegorabbits.org/veterinarian-list/san-diego-riverside-area-vets

Dr. Cecil, also a board member of San Diego HRS. He also had a good teacher for exotics. Yes, bunnies are exotic.

Don't go to Fuerte Animal Hospital, they are terrible, the vet assistant told us rabbits were "Solitary animals"! And if that wasn't bad enough the vet tried to sell us a bunch of stuff we didn't need
Michelle M. replied:
And I second Grand Animal hospital, that's where we go eventho it's a bit of a drive in La Mesa

We live in La Mesa and our vet is Rancho San Diego Animal Hospital.
I need a good recommendation for an East County veterinarian. Shadow has been throwing up for two days.
Nancy D. replied:
It's. It East County, but whenever I have something serious or want a second opinion, I go to Dr. Michael Kelly at he Main Street Small Animal hospital. He is an internal specialist and I trust him above all others.. The number is 232-7401. For east county, there is the Animal Medical Clinics at 600 Broadway in El Cajon. State of the art but impersonal.
Toni B. replied:
I can only recommend a hospital that way. But call them and see if they'll refer you to someone local. Pet Emergency & Specialty Center619-462-4800. My dog had bladder surgery there and they gave excellent care. Good luck
Renee K. replied:

How funny! I just took our cat into Eastridge Pet Hospital today (on University). It was my first time there but I had a really great experience! I felt like they didn't try to do a lot of unnecessary stuff that my little guy didn't need either. My aunt also recommended Dr. Espinosa at La Mesa Pet Hospital. She used to volunteer there. They didn't have any openings when I called though. Good luck!
Bodie C. replied:
Animal Medical Center on Broadway in El Cajon. Amazing place!
Barbara P. replied:
Its a bit of a drive but we STILL use Grand Animal Hosp in PB
Marit V. replied:
We loved Animal Care Clinic of San Diego. It's in Rancho San Diego. I know it's not La Mesa, but they're great!
Wendy L. replied:
I went to San Carlos Animal Hospital. The staff is very nice, and I especially liked Derek, the vet tech.
Barbara P. replied:
Didn't have time to write earlier, but the vet@Grand is a pretty good diagnostician, their prices r the best I have found anywhere, & she really cares. Her name is Kevin Scoggins but she's female
