Hey Ellyn! You can actually receive mosquitofish for free from the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services. They provide them at no cost to for people with fountains or ponds in their yard to control the mosquito problem. They eat the mosquito larvae in the water before they start flying. It’s a really fascinating solution actually. Here’s a link with more info and a phone number to call to obtain the fish. http://www.longbeach.gov/health/inspections-and-reporting/reporting/mosquitofish/ Hope this helps!!
