Any recommendations for a good, affordable optometrist in the area? I've never had glasses before, but my eyesight has really taken a dive over the last few years and I...

I love Dr. Gary Pence with Georgia Optometry. He works out of the Dunwoody location though. His other colleagues are great and there are more local locations. I don't mind the drive to see him though, it is only once a year.:) http://www.georgiaoptometry.com

I went to Marietta Eye Clinic for years and wasted so much time and $! I'm finally on my way to clear vision by going to Dr. Fred Long. http://eyedoctormarietta.com/
Becky R. replied:
We see Dr. Travis at Lens Crafters at the West Cobb Avenues and she's great. My husband and I have terrible vision with a strong astigmatism and she does great with our prescriptions! We order contacts online and usually get our glasses at Costco. I went to Marietta Eye Clinic once and it was by far the worst eye exam experience of my life. Never again.
Ak R. replied:
It's close by but we've been happy at Thomas Eye Group in Woodstock.
Shannon H. replied:
Also Walmart has an optometrist they are affordable. If he sees something they can send you to an opthemologist. We like Dr. Mark Bordencea and Greenberg.. and We have also seen the Thomas Eye group they are very nice. But our issues are more complicated. If it is just a cheap look see.. probably an optometrist at Walmart or America's best would be a good start.
Vanessa N. replied:
Target Optical is fantastic.
Chris B. replied:
I agree with Becky Rivero . I love Dr. Travis! The rest of the family sees Dr. Holcomb and we adore him too. Very kind and grandfatherly with kids. My husband got metal in his eye and Dr. Holcomb basically did a little procedure with what I called a n eyeball Dremel. (Ick!) The glasses at Lenscrafters are very expensive, but the staff there is nice. They are good at helping choose lenses. You just have to know your options and be aware that they will attempt to sell you a Cadillac, when you might only need or want something more basic. With that said, you can take your prescription anywhere else to get the actual glasses. I've even used Zenni.com.
Mary E. replied:
Very highly recommend Dr. Holcomb at West Cobb Avenues!
Karen C. replied:
Dr. David Ross at Ross Eyecare in Buckhead (Sydney Marcus Blvd.) is the best! The exam is worth the drive. I then mailorder through 1-800 contacts, and get my eyeglasses at FourEyes or wherever I find a frame I like.
Maureen R. replied:
Dr. Fred Long!
Susan M. replied:
Dr Thurschwell at Marietta Eye Clinic is wonderful.
Diane C. replied:
It really depends on how bad your eyes are. If average, America's Best or For Eyes might work out great. If you have a stigmatism or need bifocals Marietta Eye Clinic (as an example) is a better option.
Kelly S. replied:
I recommend avoiding Marietta Eye Clinic. Walmart is actually really good!
Anyone have a great optometrist they'd recommend? I currently go to Marietta Eye Clinic but they're a little too busy (and expensive) for me, and I'm in serious need of...

Advanced Eye of Marietta 2645 Dallas Hwy #100, Marietta, GA 30064 (770) 422-8002 Dr. Fred Long, Dr. David Fierce or Dr. Nhora Abrid ... they are just past Target on Dallas Highway! GREAT PLACE!!! http://eyedoctormarietta.com/
Shaun K. replied:
not sure about where to go for the medical work itself, but if you need glasses, my wife has had a great deal of success with coastal.com. Vastly cheaper, still great quality and built to order. you'll need your prescription and pupillary distance.
Tommy J. replied:
I'm not going to say not to go to Advanced. I LOVE Fred. But his office, in my experience was prohibitively and frustratingly disorganized, and I was misdiagnosed for several years. That's why I had to find a new doctor, and I'm very happy with Dr. Washington. Not trying to start crap or talk bad about anyone. Different doctors are simply better fits for different people!
Lynn S. replied:
Just saw Dr. Borger today. Very pleased with him and the office. Will get glasses at Costco.
Tommy J. replied:
I just switched to Dr. Washington at Sams Club. Absolutely recommend her 100%.
Joan G. replied:
The drs at the Lenscrafters in the Avenues are great. Dr. Holcomb found a problem with my son's vision that was overlooked by other doctors, even a pediatric ophthalmologist, and was able to fix it with the proper glasses.
Georgia W. replied:
I have been a patient of Dr. Borger for many years. He is excellent.
Jessica K. replied:
i also have had an excellent experience with Dr. Borger!
Natalie K. replied:
I use Dr. Borger on Tower Rd. Very pleased!
Jessie S. replied:
I adore Dr Ron Becker@Classic Vision at Ridenour!! It's a small private practice and the only place I trust for comprehensive exams and glasses. He discovered my prescription from a Lens Crafters was too strong!!
Scott M. replied:
I love Fred Long on Dallas Hwy at Target. You won't find a better optometrist anywhere.
Salleigh G. replied:
Fred Long. Always. I cannot tell you the times Fred has caught issues others have not. Advanced Eye Care - Dallas Road. Tell my niece, Emily, that her favorite Aunt sent you! Lol!

Dr. Hobson at Hobson/Tasman off Wade green road. He is fantastic and I never waited over 10 minutes and in an emergency he will see you as soon as possible
I need a pediatric ophthalmologist. To be clear, I need an eye doctor that exams the health of the eye (ophthalmologist), not the doctor who looks at vision/prescribes...
Kelli S. replied:
We just moved to the area from DC and we use Thomas Eye Group in Woodstock. We are Dr. Garland and he is great. My 8 year old daughter had to have eye surgery last December and he is just as great if not better than our pediatric eye specialist in Fairfax. Pediatrics is his specialty as well.
Kelli S. replied:
Should say Dr. Berland. Autocorrect!
Kimberly G. replied:
The number one Pediatric Ophthalmologist in Georgia is Dr. Mark Greenberg. His phone number is 770-424-5669. My daughter had a rare birth defect called Marcus-Gunn Syndrome at birth. He was amazing with her. At 18 years old, she is gorgeous and you would never know she ever had a physical eye problem. His skills-surgical and otherwise are awesome.

Looking for recommendations for a good dentist and optometrist. We're new to the square and looking to change some of our doctors to nearby.
Michael M. replied:
Johnson Ferry Dentistry is amazing! Their office is state of the art and Dr. Janki Patel, DMD is fantastic!
Katie M. replied:
Marietta Dental associates! Dr Robinson and Dr Ridley!
Jessica K. replied:
I love Dr. Glover and Dr. Gentry for dentists (they are both on Cherokee Street right off of the square). For optometry, I use Dr. Borger. All of them are close to the hospital.

Kennestone Dental Dr Robinson, been going there for years. Three generations of our family go there.
