Recommendations - Local, week long, sleep away camp for 2nd grade boy? (Lutherlyn is only 3 nights for this age)
Charlene K. replied:
I know you said local but, Summer’s Best Two Weeks (near Somerset) is THE BEST! Kids 8-18 can go and the 1 st session (Summer 1) is only 9 days.

I grew up going to both Ligonier camp and Summers Best (there was another one near Lancaster that has a new name I can’t remember). Honestly the best camp experience is having someone else you know going at the same time. Both camps mentioned were notorious for selecting incredible camp counselors

Are there any part time preschool summer camps in the area that are not $100 a week?
Jodie C. replied:
My daughter goes part time daycare & full time preschool all year at A Rising Star Childcare on Brickyard. They do not have a specific summer camp for preschool age, but they do a lot of fun stuff during the summer. They offer part time rates at $41 per day or drop in rates at $6 per hour for preschool ages. If you wanted to set your own days/times without paying a weekly rate, it would be a good option. Here is the website: www.arisingstarchildcare.com
Hello! Looking for recommendations on summer/sports camps for boys ages 8 and 6. Thanks!
Tammy C. replied:
Coach David Gray sports camps are awesome. Also, not especially a sports camps, but they incorporate tons of sports of all varieties at KidsFest at Orchard Hill Church in Wexford (usually street hockey, archery, Gaga ball, soccer, climbing wall, water gun wars, scooter races more). My kids love both of these camps. http://www.kidsfestrocks.com

Boy or girl? My son loved Oxfords camp, I was so impressed with the college kids leading it. Winchester Thurston has neat and different academic camps. He liked the engineering camp. Good luck!

Willow Brook Stables offers horseback riding camp. We offer full day and half day for younger children. They learn to ride, do arts and crafts, have daily lessons all about horses. The kids always have an amazing time. We are located right off route 228 in Valencia across from Quality Gardens. Message me for more information.

The Cranberry YMCA has a really great Indoor/outdoor camp and the leaders are mainly Edu students from SRU. Stepping Stones and Cranberry Community both run camps at the Family Resource Center Campus on Freeport Rd (where Bob Evans is) but that is an Outdoor only camp and is run by a combination of college students, SVSD employees, and Stepping Stones employees depending on the camp. I'm a behavioral therapist and have clients that attend some of these camps and I can say they are both very good and offer many activities; however, if your child is more sensitive to heat and the outside then the YMCA camp would be a better choice.
