Memphis Area Home Inspectors? Can anyone recommend a good and fair home inspector?

My friend and I both used Bill Bonds at [In-House Inspections](http://in-houseinspections.com/). He was very thorough and sends you a PDF copy of the report when completed. His cost is very fair (charges per square foot) and he was able to accommodate my schedule.

My experience has been that home inspectors are a rip-off. I'm not saying that there aren't any good ones out there but by and large it is a scam to get buyers to close on a house so that the real-estate agent can get their commission. The inspection industry is fed by and paid for by real estate agent creating an industry that is based on a huge conflict of interest.
Many of these inspectors have absolutely no construction or building experience and can only go by a very narrow list of things that they were taught during a 3-day training seminar before being released into the wild as "Certified Inspectors". Many companies claim compliance with some sort of national standards, which usually means that they paid for a very impressive *looking* fill-in-the-blank report template or software which they don't even adhere to.
If you doubt this, try to get an inspector to sign a agreement to accept any form of liability for gross incompetence.
We are still on our home inspectors email list and get emails almost monthly explaining that they are hiring and no experience or building background is necessary.
I think you are better off paying a reputable general contractor to do the inspection.
Does anyone have any experience with... or can you suggest a reputable home inspector in the Memphis area?
And maybe if you can suggest ones to stay away from that...

Anyone have any Home Inspector Recommendations? Purchasing a home, need a good home inspector to come out and look. Any suggestions?
SteakNightEveryNight replied:
I don't have any recommendations, but I would suggest dedicated inspections of anything you are iffy about (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roof, structural). Home Inspectors are a jack of all trades and their licensure is trivial compared to that of a plumber or electrician.
