Looking for doctor Hey y’all, I’m trying to move from my old doctor (pediatrician) and try to find a good general doctor (just for check ups and maybe some mental...

We love Dr. Brooke Anthony. She’s with the MUSC system and her office is over in Mt P. She does all of our general checkups, schedules all of our old people tests (now that we’re over 50) and even does our mental health things. I developed an anxiety disorder and she got me back right as rain. My wife had been on Effexor for years but hated it and Brooke worked with her to switch her off of it. Can’t say enough good things about Brooke.
icanhasbooks replied:
I love Dr. Mannfred. All the other patients are suuuuuper old and thus things always run late, but she’s so thorough I don’t mind. Edit: she’s in WA
tigersanddawgs replied:
I have worked with multiple of the MUSC docs mentioned in other comments (Adams Psenka, and others) and highly recommend. Just please ask for a real doctor (MD/DO) - my two cents from inside healthcare

A) male or female (you) B) is Roper in network for you? MUSC?
darkhorse_defender replied:
There's a new guy in west Ashley, Anthony Germinario. I just had my first appointment with him ( he took over from my old doc who retired) and liked him a lot. Very down to earth, talks to patients like they're intelligent people lol

If Summerville is not to far for you I highly recommend Dr Aaron Hyson. He knows his stuff and you never feel rushed. I recommend him to anyone that asks about physicians. 843-212-8080

Dr Clifford has been my doctor for about 14 years and he’s amazing. Coastal pediatric
Luna_Organa replied:
I love Dr. Adrian Strand, she’s with MUSC at the North Charleston (University Blvd.) office. She’s the most thorough doctor I’ve ever been to, and she makes me comfortable to open up. Not sure if this is important to you, but she is very open about taking an interest in and helping the LGBT community and is endorsed on the Alliance for Full Acceptance website. The bad thing is sometimes it can take a few months to book your first appointment with her, but once you’re her patient she can get you in quickly if needed (sometimes the same day).

I go to Dr. Justin Dean with MUSC West Ashley (it's off Magwood Drive near Live 5 News). I'm not sure if he's taking new patients, but he's excellent and I highly recommend him. My husband sees him too.
Passive_Southerner replied:
I like Dr. Psenka on James Island. She's with MUSC and is very kind and good with mental health stuff too.
poptartsalads replied:
Dr. Johnny Weeks is part of the Roper network. He is very thorough in his assessments every visit. He writes down everything as you say it. You spend more time with him than in the waiting room, unlike most doctors I've had.

Can’t speak highly enough of Sam McNulty at MUSC Primary Care.
Any recommendations for a primary care doctor in the Charleston or Mt Pleasant area who doesn't try to push drugs, flu shots, colonoscopies, etc.?
Winnie T. replied:
The best known "integrative" doctor is Dr. Lieberman but he's in North Charleston. It's nice though because he is a medical doctor and holistic practitioner. It's www.coem.com

Jon Daniels in Shepherd is beyond amazing! He works really hard to find the cause of something besides just prescribing drugs.
Candice L. replied:
Dr. Judy Indrakumaran at the Mid-Michigan health park office on Pickard. Quite young, really easy to talk to, and not dismissive of you if you like to pursue natural treatments.
Sara K. replied:
I also see and love Dr. Judy! She's awesome.:) ETA: Tyler also sees Dr. Judy, and she's great with him. He has had a lot of trouble with "White Coat Syndrome" due to the many issues he had as a toddler, and he has never had any problem letting her examine him.
Rebecca F. replied:
I see Dr. Judy, too, and she's very nice. My mom sees Dr. Tessa Dake and loves her too!
