Does anyone have a recommendation for a local, affordable (cheap!!) veterinarian for a sick kitty?

North Seattle Veterinary Clinic
Heather G. replied:
We go to the Cat Clinic on 145 th. Dr. Shade is VERY affordable and clearly loves cats. We've been to her a few times lately with two different cats. With one cat, we took to Northgate Vet Clinic (fancy and expensive) then took him to Dr. Shade-- she took care of our kitty at a very reasonable rate comparatively. It's especially nice because since it's a cat-only clinic, there's no doggies around to scare and stress your cat out even more.

And there was a discussion on local vets here... https://www.facebook.com/groups/PinehurstSeattle/permalink/10151777014231899/

We LOVE the Aurora Vet Hospital (for 20 years!) Dr. Andrew Bernstein is amazing and all of the docs have been reasonable financially, keeping the kitty for no additional fee if she had to be monitored for a few hours, talking through both the financial and health ramifications of different decisions without any judgement, teaching me how to give subcutaneous fluids at home to save $, etc. Sorry about your kitty...
Laura C. replied:
I used to take my kitty to value Pet Clinic in Shoreline. https://www.valuepetclinic.com/vpc/home/
Jeanne G. replied:
Oh, and I helped my mother take her cat to Cascade Vet, over by Sam's Club. I liked them a lot and they seemed to be very reasonably priced.
Need referral help!
Someone was quoted $3000 for an MRI on a Golden
With ACL injury.
Anyone know of a good Vet in Kirkland area? They need
Another vet to take a look!
Kristin T. replied:
Seattle veterinary specialists is on the expensive side, but they are trustworthy. Beyond that, most Kirkland vets bring in or refer for surgical consults that are less expensive than the surgery centers... We did a tplo on our lab at Washington state university vet hospital which was less expensive than local even with hotel and travel. No MRI, just X-rays and physical exam. They do it over 4-days and send you home...
Jenny F. replied:
I work at Summit Veterinary Referral, amazing surgeons!:-)
Linda M. replied:
Of course I'll always refer to Dr. Peter Brown at Chuckanut Valley Veterinary Clinic in Burlington, not a far drive from Kirkland and well worth it!!!
Kenneth L. replied:
I don't typically think of an ACL injury needing and MRI. Palpation under sedation and Radiographs are usually diagnostic. I will second the recommendation for Mark Engen in Kirkland. I've known him for years and have referred a few ACL's to him. As a less expensive alternative for TPLO surgery, I'd recommend Dr. Joe Harari in Spokane. I've sent him a ton of TPLO's through the years.
Nancy R. replied:
I second Linda Maffett !:)
Bryant M. replied:
WSU is $600 for MRI with $97 for the visit we field folks just use Sun Valley Animal clinic total for exam and surgery is $2400
Linda M. replied:
I had an ACL repair done with Dr. Brown at Chuckanut Valley Veterinary Clinic several years ago for about $1,200.00, might be a bit more now but the surgery was excellent, recovery and rehab and how the dog recovers is all about how well you do with the rehab.
Sidney O. replied:
Dr. Mark Davis (Northwest Veterinary Surgery) is out of Woodinville but he does surgeries at the dog's regular vet to help lower costs. Did a TPLO on a friend's lab several years ago.
Brenda H. replied:
Seattle Vet Specialists are just that, veterinary specialists, and may not be the cheapest but are top of the line. Dr Mison there did an incredible surgery, bilateral ectopic ureter, on a puppy who was in Rescue about 5 yrs. ago named Ruby. Incredible care, incredible doctors...........Not too close to Kirkland but we had Summit Veterinary Referral Center in Tacoma do a risky surgery on our CF Sophie in April, a tumor right on the rectum, and they were amazing. Not cheap but thorough & top of the line care.
Kim H. replied:
Seattle Vet Specialists. Is this a large clinic with satellite offices? Was hoping there was a ortho specialist somewhere close.
Brenda H. replied:
Check it out, Kim. As far as I know, only one large clinic in Kirkland. Isn't that where you meant by close (as orig. post states)?http://www.svsvet.com/
Anyone know of a good vet in the Northgate or surrounding areas? My friend needs a vet with a sliding free scale or low cost for her sick cat. Thank you!
Elizabeth P. replied:
I would highly recommend Northeast Veterinary Hospital up on 35 th and ask for Dr. James Reeves or there is also Northgate vet which is up on 15 th right across from Safeway. If she goes there she should see Dr. Emi Baxter. So sorry that your friends cat is sick. Hope the cat gets better. Northeast Veterinary Hospital is slightly cheaper than Northgate Vet
Wendy O. replied:
I forgot about that one. My other friend takes her dogs there. I go to the Cat Clinic of NE Seattle (by QFC on 145 th & 15 th).
Alisha H. replied:
I was just on Aurora in Shoreline and there's a Value Vet Clinic off Aurora and 160 th that looked to have just opened and was advertising low costs.
Jeanne G. replied:
Someone on here asked a while back about an inexpensive vet and I looked it up in my Consumer's Checkbook magazine (kind of like Consumer's Reports, but rates local businesses). I haven't tried Cedar Plaza Vet myself, but the magazine rates it at $43 for prices (compared to an average of $100). It got an 83% in satisfaction of clients, which was considered one of the higher levels. Elissa C. replied:
I really like NE Vet Hospital on 35 th too (we picked it based on recs here!), but I have no idea if they have a sliding scale.
Elizabeth P. replied:
Northeast Vet is slightly cheaper than Northgate Vet Elissa Catherine, but not by much and I so prefer Northeast Vet. I see Dr. Reeves who is the owner.
Elissa C. replied:
We saw Dr Fisher and really like him. He is super nice.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a cheap but good vet? I'm not working right now and my cat is limping and might be sick cause the cat he got in a fight with doesn't...

Sno King in Lynnwood do payments. You do however have to pay office call first of $38.50, I believe. Sounds like an abscess.
