One of my good friends usee Jennifer vines and I recommend her. A other friend did Maryann Richardson. I used Sheryl Shafer and absolutely loved her. You will never be disappointed with a home birth!! The care and attention that home birth midwives possess is unparalleled.

Definitely Tender Beginnings with Mary Anne Richardson..she may be booked but definitely get on her waiting list. We loved her!

I too recommend Vanderbilt Midwives and NOVA Birth Services. My doula was the awesome Megan Megan Fleeman. Both were so supportive of my VBAC.

Melan Francis and she can work in a hospital environment but really does homebirths unless there is an issue then it's a transfer She is also a family practitioner

I used the Vanderbilt midwives in Nov 2013 and they cheered me on for a vbac! I hired Patsy George as my doula and have nothing but good things to say for her!

Vanderbilt Nurse Midwives 2 of my three VBACs have been with them. Franklin Road Midwives deliver at St. Thomas Midtown (formerly Baptist). There is a birthing center opening in Nashville late summer but they will not offer VBAC. Infinity Birthing Center in Cookeville or The Farm in Summertown if you can travel a bit.

I'm using west end women's health center, Vanderbilt midwives and they are great! But I think this place http://www.colefamilypractice.org/Nurse-Midwifery-Care.html Has a birthing center with birthing tubs etc.

Lauren Cardwell is a doula, not a midwife. She is awesome but she's taking some time off.

I'm a midwife. My office is in East Nashville and I also live here. I attend home births within a one hour radius of Nashville. Have her look at www.tnmidwives.org for a list of midwives who attend home births. The only true birthing center option is in Cookeville if she is interested in that option. Also water birth (as in having the baby in the water, not just water labor) is going to be a home birth. The hospitals will allow water "labor" but not water birth. Hope this helps!

Angela, I filmed a birth video for one of her clients, and she was AMAZING. Great support during a super long labor. Tender Beginnings Birth Services is her company (as a note to any others who didn't know).

We used Tender Beginnings and truly believe our experience with Mary Anne Conyers Richardson and her staff couldn't be any better. We'd recommend them to anyone!

Vandy midwifes are wonderful. Lisa Stephens and Lori Cabbage are my personal favs but I've never met one I didn't like! If you are looking for a homebirth I have seen nothing but Amazing from Mary Anne Richardson and the team at Tender beginnings. That wonderful lady is actually the reason I became a doula!! If you are looking for an OB than Dr. Sizemore at Williamson medical center or Dr. Nobles in Murfreesboro are my favorites. Sizemore is actually a DO and he is amazing. So yea, there are my favs from each area! Thanks to all of these amazing people each person can find the perfect fit for their family! I love all our option in this area!

Sheryl Schafer and Talitha Mills are both great CPMs who attend home birth vbacs. Talitha even has an official OB backup. I loved my prenatal care with the Vandy midwives, but still ended up with a possibly unnecessary c-section that I'm still sad about, 2 years later. While I believe they are 100% supportive of vbacs, they still must adhere to hospital policies, many of which are not VBAC friendly.

Dr Brown does vbacs. Kathy Williams and The Farm midwives too.

Sheryl Shafer all the way - home birth midwife. I had my VBAC with her after the Vandy midwives who I was with for my unnecessary csection told me I would never have a VBA unless I had a six pounder. VBACed a 42 week 10 pound healthy baby boy because Sheryl believed my body was created to give birth!

Oh, also, Sarah, if you are more comfortable with an OB, I've heard very good things about Dr. John Wilters. I think he attends both at Centennial and Baptist.

Had a successful VBAC with the Vandy midwives and Doula Heidi - Expecting New Life Birth Services as my doula.

Dr. Okifor (sp?) is right by stonecrest and he once told me he'd consider backing up a midwife. I'd go there if I wanted an OB. I had a successful homebirth with Marilyn Greene. She's very VBAC supportive. Yes, I know the history, yes, I'd still choose her again without hesitation.

I did my VBAC almost 2 years ago with Vanderbilt Nurse Midwives, after trying a few OB's I felt they were the only ones who would truly support me 100% & really let me go for it. I was successful with my VBAC & had a great experience. I LOVE them! I am with them now, expecting to deliver by February 2 nd with my 2 nd VBAC. I also used Jeannie Johnson Casey for my doula, she is super knowledgable & supportive.

Sheryl Shafer, does anyone know if she only midwifes for homebirths or does she midwife in a hospital setting? The reason I ask is because I live about an hour away from Nashville hospitals so I would feel more comfortable being closer to a hospital with a VBAC should any complications arise.

Gaylea McDougal is an amaaaazing doula and monitrice!!!!! Loved her times infinity! I went to the Vandy midwives as I couldn't find a homebirth midwife who would do a vbac with no previous vaginal births.

I also used Vanderbilt Midwives (West End) for my Vbac and went through Nine Months and Beyond for my doula and lactation services. Lauren Drees is my midwife and Sarah McKay was my doula. Love both of them!!

Hands down Dr. John Link. He's like a midwife with a white coat. Loves doulas too. Many local doulas I have spoken with that have worked with him would say the same. Having worked as an OB RN (and doula) for years, he is far the top I've come across...midwives included. I've also delivered with Vandy Midwives, and there was no comparison for me. Old school Dr, and very naturally minded, and supportive. He does deliver in a hospital, but encourages you to stay home as long as it's safe for both mom & baby. He is in Hermitage.
