I’d call Bee Howes. She does a lot of work in town. Bee has some great contractors with whom she works. We were very happy with Bob Thomas of Star Builders. We just passed the two year anniversary of our addition (completed on time and on budget) and I can’t say enough good things about the pair of them.

Does anyone have a good architect or a general contractor to recommend in the area? We are looking to start a large scale addition project for our house, thanks!
Susan O. replied:
Bee Howes is an excellent architect. And she is so easy to work with. We did a large renovation with her and couldn't be happier.
Sheila P. replied:
Bee Howes is great. I've seen several of her projects and they are beautiful! Lots of Needham work.
Lee K. replied:
Did two different large renovations. One with PBZ construction. One with [David] Slicklen. Both were a pleasure to work with. I never felt they were "just following the plans, 'mam". They were thoughtful and creative problem solvers. And they were both at the house EVERY DAY they said they would be. And they were fair, on schedule and on budget. All qualities to consider on top of solid craftsmanship. Happy to talk on the phone about either!
Michael C. replied:
For an architect, I highly recommend Susan Blumberg Koslow. She's got an incredible eye for houses.

Looking for recommendations and a little advice. I want to explore the idea of removing a wall between the living room and kitchen (open the house up a bit and get more...
Kerry H. replied:
You need a structural engineer if it is a supporting wall. Arthur LaBresseur (617) 965-5955 We just went through this and had a beam put up because we removed a supporting wall. If t's not supporting wall a contractor can do it without the engineer. http://www.lebrasseurengineering.com/meet-the-engineer.html
