George Massouras and his brother Peter run a reasonably priced, reliable, responsible landscaping company. They do work year round. Call them.
We are looking for recommendations for an arborist to diagnose and treat our border hemlocks that are starting to turn brown. Thanks!

Hartney Greymont (now known as Davey Tree, I think).

Hi Robert, I think the other people weighing in are probably right, Wooly Adelgid. This is the most common parasite/affliction for Hemlocks. Jim Abusamra at Hartney Greymont is an exceptional arborist. The other issue could be lack of water and the sustained drought conditions we have had over the last few years. Makes all large vegetation weakened and more vulnerable. This is kind of a weird time of year to see a Hemlock failing. Hartney Greymont team is without question the best resource to help. Good luck.
We may need to have some trees taken down. Any recommendations for a tree service? Thanks.

We use Gary from Countryside Landscaping. He is great. And Michael makes me laugh!

We just used Maltby Tree to take down a huge tree. I got a few quotes and they were the cheapest. They also had great customer service. http://www.maltbytree.com/

I've used Tree tech and McKinney for pruning large trees/limbs. Both priced fair and good work. Royer for removal of large trees. Recently Reilly's for pruning. 781-449-8600.

I've used Tree Tech and was happy with both the quality of the service and the cost.
Erica B. replied:
Hartney Greymont is not inexpensive but I trust them implicitly, especially for older trees and for maintaining esthetics with pruning. Jim A. is awesome.

Rob Flaherty (local) or Maltby. Very professional and helpful. Similar pricing. Rob great for smaller jobs, Maltby has all the big equipment for large jobs.
