My boyfriend and I are looking for an animal shelter to rescue or adopt a new pet, any suggestions?

I’ve gotten animals from both Animal Welfare in New Milford and the Animal Control in Bridgeport (when I lived on the shoreline). Bridgeport is a bit of a hike from New Milford but they always have atleast 50 dogs and 10 or so cats. Last time I was there animals were $5 if they’re spayed/neutered (yes you read that right) and $50 if they’re not (and you get vouchers for shots and spay/neuter).

New Milford Animal Welfare. Overall, be careful of adopting a dog that has been transported up from Southern states. There are rules in place about the health exams these pets have to have before they travel, and those rules are not always followed, even if the organization presents you with a "health certificate". If you go on Petfinder, there are a number of organizations that claim to be "in Connecticut" but they are not. Some of those are reputable and others aren't. Just make sure you do your homework. The easiest/safest thing is to go a local rescue organization with a brick and mortar facility.

New Milford Animal Shelter. I've gotten two dogs from there, and both were dearly sweet, and loving. The staff there are so compassionate Two thumbs up.
Does anyone know if our animal shelter or any shelters in the surrounding towns are in desperate need of used towels/sheets/blankets? These were specifically set aside...
