Any suggestions for a great veterinarian for cats in the Newark, Delaware area? I have a client who is looking since her vet just retired.
Martha B. replied:
Dr. Kim Herman. She is medical director of kirkwood vca. (302)737-1098. I would not take Tobeman to anyone else.
Larry W. replied:
Without hesitation, Dr Clare Lochesstoer, Middletown http://atlanticvetcenter.com/

We like Lums Pond Animal Hospital. Dr. Thompson and Dr. Crosier are very good.

We have been using Dr. Beste in Middletown since we moved to Delaware. He was a lot cheaper when we first moved here, but now still more reasonable than Delaware vets.

White Clay Creek Veterinary Hospital, Albe Dr-Newark (off Old Balt. Pike) Love Dr. Winwood and Dr. Spencer - been going there for 20 years. (on my second family of cats, first ones lived to be 13-14 years old)
Renee R. replied:
White Clay Creek Veterinary Hospital rocks. Echo LuAnne Cavender Walker's comments. Very compassionate and will not "run the bill up" even when they could. I am taking my second dog there. The first passed and was very sick, I would have paid anything for him to be better but they gave it to me straight. Second pup is going on 11 and happy and healthy with their care!

We use Pike Creek vets.

Not to add one more name...but LOVE Lum's Pond Animal Hospital..Dr. Thompson..but there are other vets there too. On Rt. 72, so easy to get to from Newark.

I use Lums Pond Animal Hospital. I am sorry to say they are not cheap but were wonderful with my mastiff who I lost to osteosarcoma a year and a half ago. I wanted to suggest "Care Credit". It's definitely worth looking into. I use it for my boys when I need to because I don't have pet insurance. Really wish I would have had that. Good luck:)

I take my pets to Highgrove Animal Hospital in Nottingham, PA. Very reasonable and great with my dog. But please google Blue Buffalo complaints. I thought it was the best, as so many people recommended it. I believe it ruined my dog's digestive system.

I need to find a vet experienced with rats and is not super expensive. I'm in New Castle County, DE. Any suggestions welcome.

There's Chadwell Animal Hospital in Abingdon, MD. It's now far off 95. I absolutely loved them when I took my sister's rat there. Prices are great...I think it's under $40 for an exam, only like $12 more if it's an emergency exam....super reasonably priced. I paid like $72 for an emergency exam and medications for his upper respiratory. And they were like $100 to neuter him if we opted for that (we haven't as of right now).
I absolutely loved that hospital. They were great with Gil even though he was being "bad" and not wanting to be examined. I think we saw Dr. Williams. She was great. And I work at a veterinary emergency hospital....I'm picky.
Our Dog, Miko, was diagnosed with Addison's last month and it was really scary. We had never heard of it, but our vet knew to look for it, thank goodness. Does anyone...
Cathy B. replied:
Elizabeth, Chopper has always been on percorten. With what you said, it makes me wonder. At the beginning, 2.5 years ago, my vet would call the compounding pharmacy and order it. It was only $40 a shot. Then I was told that they could no longer do that and I would have to pay full price as the pharmaceutical would no longer allow compounding.
