Suzy L. replied:
That sounds like therapeutic mentor services... any local organization that does CBHI services should be able to help.
Yanyi W. replied:
South Shore Mental Health has therapeutic mentors! The organization is located in Quincy but therapeutic mentors can drive the teen anywhere and attend activities with her.:)
Halie P. replied:
I agree with Suzy, if the family has Mass Health, look into TMs through Community service agencies (CSAs). If she doesn't have MassHealth, she could apply for MBHP secondary to gain access to these services
Jade D. replied:
Just to clarify on what others have shared - in terms of CBHI, a therapeutic mentor is a hub dependent service meaning she would need to access an outpatient therapist who could be the hub or other CBHI service (ICC, IHT, school-based, etc.). Therapeutic mentoring is not a stand-alone service, like a Big Brother or Big Sister could be. A good place to connect might the Family Resource Center in Roslindale to discuss what options are available for her, if her outpatient therapist it not a hub provider for TM services: http://www.thehome.org/site/PageServer?pagename=FamilyResourceCenter:) Good luck!
Bethanne D. replied:
CBHI services go till 22, however it is only through masshealth Big brother or big sister might be a way to go for a mentor

Drew F. replied:
Congrats! This is a big step and I wish you the best of luck. You are on the right track already when considering to speak to a lawyer BEFORE expanding your bsuiness. It is of the utmost importance that you are fully aware of the laws in the state you practice, in this case, MA. Here is a link to an article that can provide some very relevant information about your determination when classifying your workers. You don't have as much of a choice as you may think. That said, you should factor the cost of employee payroll taxes into your calculations when determining compensation and pricing startegies. Best of luck. http://www.mbbp.com/resources/employment/independent_contractor.html
